Homemade Cane Syrup...A Nearly Lost South Louisiana Art

Troy Jowers, New Orleans Realtor: Real Estate Agent in New Orleans, LA

Check out this article about a high school friend of mine (Amy Gray Baudoin) whose family harvests sugar cane and makes homemade cane syrup from it. Very different from what you get in the store and very good. One of the many nearly lost Cajun cultural experiences that I'm so glad someone is still preserving. They live in my homeland...Terrebonne Parish in southeast Louisiana (about an hour southwest of New Orleans). The article is from their local paper, The Houma Courier and the article can be found through this link. And check out some of their syrup...an unusual and unique Christmas gift!
