If you are new to our area or do not know about this subdivision with homes on the water in the middle of Lake Charles, then you've missed out on a hidden gem, Lake Marie! Like Jean Lafitte's treasure, Lake Marie is a bit hidden. Unlike the pirate's loot, it is easy to find! This, of course, is part of its appeal as neighbors enjoy far less traffic than most subdivisions, while enjoying the locational benefits.
As you can see by this aerial view, Lake Marie's convenient location would be fabulous without the prescense of a lake stocked with bass awaiting your supper-catch! McNeese State University, home of the McNeese State Cowboys is nearby as well as LaGrange High School and College Oaks Elementary.
Hospitals play a locational role for many of today's home buyer so put another notch in the plus category for Lake Marie Estates in Lake Charles. Memorial Hospital and the surrounding medical complex makes getting to the doctor or hospital a breeze. Of course, you can hop on I-210 in minutes to take to the roads to explore more of the beauty of Southwest Louisiana.
If you are looking for the protection that comes with a deed restricted subdivision, Lake Marie is just that. Short of Graywood, Lake Marie offers some of the most extensive restrictions I have read.
Not only is this a subdivision with homes on the water, each home has its own Waterfront site! As you drive through the subdivision, you will see true pride of ownership in the homes and the
subdivision. As you talk to the members of the community, you learn what a true bond they develop with their neighbors and how much they enjoy their home beyond the bare necessities of a roof over their heads and shelter from the cold or heat.
The Lake Marie atmosphere brings back to mind the cares and concerns of one’s neighbor that ran through our towns and neighborhoods years ago. A few of the major points about this subdivision on a Lake in the middle of Lake Charles.
It is one thing to read what a real estate agent has to say, and it should be obvious that I'm impressed with Lake Marie. Better yet, here is what the owner of my listing writes about the subdivision they are leaving as they have outgrown their home:
"Hopefully someone will have the house under contract in time to meet the neighbors at this year's block party on April 11th. The neighborhood is full of warm, kind, and friendly families that have been here for many years and look forward to welcoming a new family into the area. We would love to introduce the new owner to everyone. We will really miss the friends we have made here.
Lake Marie is the kind of place where everyone looks after everyone and offers a hand when they feel you might need one. And, we'll definitely miss the 'fish frys'; it is the best bass fishing around.
The party is held at the end of Lake Marie Court in the cul-de-sac. The association provides the meat (this year is bar-b-que) and the members bring covered dishes and/or desserts. It is a BYOB. Sharon and Mike Bufford provide the games. It is a lot of good, clean fun."
