One of Metairie's great neighborhoods is located between the I-10 and the lake. The area I am referring to is Bissonet Plaza. It is a well establish area. It is support by schools, churches and a public library. One of Bissonet Plaza greatest assets is their Civic Organizations. The Bissonet Civic Association .They offer all services from newsletter, parish issues and garden of the month.

The civic association adds a value to property. They are the protectors of the community. They will and have fought zoning issue on behalf of the area.

Bissonet Drive

Nearby community include Green Acres and Highway Park in Kenner.

Recently I found a new barber shop in Metairie, LA. No 7 Cuts. This is a new start up Barber shop in the heart of Green Acres. The location, the corner of Green Acres and Veterans Blvd. Stop and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that Steve the owner provides. The hours are flexible and very accommodating.

Pontchartrain Place Condos, 420 Old Hammond Highway. On the Lake!

Pontchartrain Place Condos located in the Buck town area of Jefferson Parish have been around for 24 years. Its got a great location across the road from Lake Pontchartrain and the levee. Its an easy walk to the New Orleans Marina. Its an ideal location for those that enjoy the outdoors. Using the levee for running and biking is a favorite past time.

There are 93 units in the complex with mostly one and two bedroom units. Many of the two bedroom units are loft style units

The parking is ample on the ground level with designated spots for each condo and plenty of guest parking. The garage is covered and the units have a storage shed in the garage. The amenities include in ground pool and club house with neatly landscaped grounds over the courtyard. The condo fees are moderate. The units have balconies and the views will vary with the units. The third floor units have a view of the lake in the distance.

There is an evevator from the garage to the units. The complex is structured where all the units do not have elevators past the first floor level but stairs.

The units have been around long enough to many updated units with new kitchens, baths and floors. You will also see a number of original units that will need updates. Customer Service

I have a property which I am flipping. We were installing new granite countertops. My wife with her eagle eye caught a spot on the granite near the kitchen sink. This spot was discovered during installation. The contractor states he will work it and make it right. After several days and attempts we still were not happy. We owed $1300 dollars. The contractor tells my wife he wants more money to exchange the granite. The slab of granite is a 9 foot run. So the cost is about $250 plus labor.

Long story short, he exchanged the slab and did not charge any more money. The argument which the contractor created included no pay, lawyers and liens.

He lost out on future business. At current we are in the bidding process of another property in Metairie, LA. I will be replacing the kitchen and baths.

My thought for $250 the contractor loss a job which I estimated to be about 4K. I will do whatever to make all my clients and customers happy.

The customer is always right is my standard philosophy.
