What is Dandiya?

Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Vrindavan, India, where it is performed depicting scenes of Holi, and lila of Krishna and Radha. Along with Garba, it is the featured dance of Navratri evenings in Western India.

We work for over 6 months to plan this event for one day...and given the presentation format it also has very high costs. We endeavor to bring a professional and high quality platform for those with talent. We sincerely hope you can help spread the word, and seriously help us find the right talent. Please encourage those who you feel have the potential.

There is also a Free Mela (in the afternoon) & Classical Competition (in the morning) this year - all on the same day. OCT 15th 2011.

What is NAVARATRI?

Navratri, Navaratri, or Navarathri (Sanskrit: नवरात्रम्; Marathi: नवरात्र; Gujarati: નવરાત્રી; Hindi: नवरात्रि; Nepali: नवरात्रि; Bengali: নবরাত্রি; Kannada: ನವರಾತ್ರಿ; Telugu: దుర్గా నవరాత్రులు; Tamil: நவராத்திரி; Malayalam: നവരാത്രി) is a Hindu festival of worship of Shakti and dance & festivities. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The 10th day is commonly referred to as Vijayadashami or Dussehra.

The Triveni Dance Ensemble consists of advanced dancers who have studied extensively with Neena Gulati and are experienced performers.

The Triveni School of Dance, in Brookline, Massachusets, was founded in 1971 by Neena Gulati,  an  acclaimed dancer from New Delhi, India.

Triveni is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and performance of Classical Indian  dance, social awareness and the celebration of cultural diversity.

The School trains over 400 dancers every week  in Indian classical dance. As they learn these  graceful techniques, dancers prepare for their “arangetram,” or artistic debut, featuring a two-hour  solo performance. The School ensemble gives hundreds of performances annually — including  benefits for other charities—at multicultural events, schools, community centers and universities,  where lectures are combined with demonstrations and workshops.
