365 things to do in Worcester County - visit Fruitland museum in Harvard. Fruitland museum is that small part of Americana which makes me smile thinking about visiting. It has a little bit of the heritage of Sturbridge Village, and a lot of the charm of the New England Heritage. In fact the website claims that Fruitlands is there to discover Heritage, Nature and Art.

Fruitlands is proud to present an exhibit of New England Impressionist paintings drawn from other institutions and private collections. The exhibit showcases dozens of artists active in the New England art scene between 1880 and 1930, including Hassam, Enneking, Huntington, Nordstrom, among others. The exhibit will run June 4 through November 15, 2011.

American impressionist artists express idealized representations in their paintings with color and movement that celebrate American life and scenery through art. By the 1890s Boston area artists and collectors were deeply involved in the impressionist movement. These artists and collectors were influenced by both their American predecessors, the Hudson River School artists, as well as the French Impressionists. This exhibit will showcase artists from New England 1880-1930.
