365 things to do in Worcester County - Celebrate your wedding anniversary in Holden Today, July 22, 2011, is a special day for me and my husband. Today we have celebrated our twenty first anniversary of the day we got married. Our daughters woke us up and presented us with a huge basket of gourmet goodies with a card that said that my husband and I are their role models.
We did not do anything out of the ordinary today. I went to open a home for a plumber, my husband changed the breaks on the van. I got my hair color and he watched a movie with our daughter. Many years we celebrate with a dinner or a week end get away. Not this year, we just saw each other periodically throughout the day, kissed and wished happy anniversary to each other.
I sit here writing my daily blog with such happiness and contentment that it almost brings tears to my eyes. In the times where fifty percent of marriages end in divorce, I consider myself lucky. We read an article years ago that stated that the reason some marriages end in divorce is people have delusions that they are marrying their soul mate and when they find out that this is not so, they end it. I remember us saying, but we did.
A soul mate is a person who will be your life long partner, someone who will finish your sentences or think the same thoughts. Someone who laughs at your jokes and makes you smile when he/she laughs. I know that there are reasons, real serious reasons why people brake up. But, when I went into this marriage, I went with the attitude that I don't divorce my brother or my parents, and I don't divorce my partner. After all, my partner is my best friend.
So today is my twenty first wedding anniversary. And if you are lucky, you too can make this one of your 365 things to do in Worcester County - Celebrate your wedding anniversary in Holden
P.S. Marriage is not a word, it's a sentence.

365 things to do in Worcester County - shovel snow, shovel more snow, and shovel more snow. Why does it still amaze us when we find out that even though we just had several blizzards, we are expecting even more snow? May by it's our human nature to be optimistic, but we are bound to be bombarded by that dreaded white stuff in January and February. We are lucky if we don't see the powder by mid March.
Actually, because my daughter's birthday is on the first or second day of Spring (March 21), I have been monitoring whether or not we have snow after her birthday. I believe that it's only been 3 or 4 times that it had any accumulation after that date.
So here we are, January behind us and February ahead. All the news are predicting more snow to come. Today, we lucked out and the temperature being 37 degrees Fahrenheit allowed us to have drizzle instead of snow. Next week, well that is a different story.
I want to share my walk at my home and show you what my 365 things to do in Worcester County - shovel snow, shovel more snow, and shovel more snow, looks like.

365 things to do in Worcester County - create a BNI group. How did this get on my 365 things to do list, you might ask. Well, it's very simple. I saw the benefit in BNI last week and now am on a mission. A co-worker of mine, Jim Tully, invited me to his BNI group. I was eager to find out more about it until I learned that I had to get up at some ungodly hour to be at the meeting at 7:00 am. There goes my beauty sleep.
The BNI group I attended, is located in West Boylston and has approximately 35 members. They are all professionals but only one from each field is allowed. The first 15 minutes are mingling and networking. Then the meeting begins. Each person has 50 seconds to give a "commercial" on their business. Then three of the members give an in depth presentation. This is followed by collection of past referrals and the one or two people who gave out the most referrals receive a small prize. Really cool.
The point of the group is to help each other to increase business. Not hard, we all know people and because we are proffessionals, we know other professionals. It looks like a really great, easy and fun way of getting more business.
Since real estate agents are very common, it is difficult if not impossible to find a group with a vacated seat for residential real estate agent. So my only option is to creat my own group. The first step is to do some research; find out the cost, parameters, amount of minimum people and start networking. I have already talked to a plumber and he is interested. The real cool part is that if I am the one inviting people, I can invite the professionals I know are really good. This way I am promoting people I know will do a fantastic job. So I am giving you a list below of people I can invite. If you know of any professionals in Worcester County who whold like to join a new BNI group and help me build it from the ground up, please let me know.
