Panelists "will reminisce about the decade of big hair, double knits, Watergate, gas lines, stagflation, Rocky Woods, the US Bicentennial, the Medfield 325th celebration, etc"

I can't wait! Finally - some attention paid to my generation. I grew up at the tail end of the Baby Boomers and things like this more often than not focus on people about ten years older than me.

We grew up in Medfield but moved to Concord in the early 1970s so many of my memories of the 70s are about the Bicentennial, parties at Punkatasset, the Depot, the Place, etc.

But my formative years were in Medfield. I often think of that time as the golden era of childhood. Parents didn't tag along with us, monitoring our every move. We played all day on our own - at The Field, fishing at the Stop River, Kingsbury's or the cemetery pond, riding our bikes down Causeway Street. Walking uptown to Lord's and Wills, walking to school every day. Dale Street school remains the school I spent more years in than any other.

One of my high school friends remarked that while it sounded like it should be a blast, it seemed odd that the Historical Society was putting it on. After all, didn't the 70s just happen?

Sure seems that way to me.
