365 Things to do in Worcester County - get your car pulled out of a snow bank. Ever have one of those days? Is it me or living in Worcester County, we get more of those days influenced by snow? May be just this year. Well, it finally happened to me. I was on my way to meet an appraiser at the property I'm selling at 34 Goodnow Rd., in Princeton and the snow piles made it hard to notice the entrance.
As I drove by the entrance, I decided that the snow piled road was just too narrow for me to turn around. So I went to the next house and tried to turn around in their driveway. Luckily, or unluckily, noone was home. I called AAA and ended up waiting for almost 3 hours. I ran the car all that time to keep warm. It took AAA merely 15 minutes to get me out of my predicament.
To see the full story, take a look at my video blog. Now, I don't recommend getting stuck in the snow, but if you do get stuck, may be you can make this, one of your 365 Things to do in Worcester County - get your car pulled out of a snow bank

Last Run at Wachusett Mountain
My husband is an expert skier. He started to ski at the age of 4 and cruises down the slopes with skill and grace that few skiers can imitate. This short video shows him on our last run at Wachusett Mountain. He had decided to use his telemark skis (a type of ski that melds the best of nordic and alpine ski technology), and I had decided to try to make some ski videos.
After a quick hot cider on the hill, I followed him to the bottom of our last run, a short and easy ride toward the main lodge. We had a great day.

Night Skiing at Wachusett Mountain in Massachusetts
What a great night for skiing at Wachusett Mountain.
We had fresh flakes of snow coming down upon us as we rode the ski lift to the top. This lift, the Polar Express, goes over the mogul field on 10th Mountain Trail. Great entertainment from the chair, watching skiers of all abilities take on the moguls.
Night skiing is always a challenge. The flat light means you have to feel the hill and be prepared for changes in the terrain that you may not be able to see. You may pop into a puff full of confectioner's sugar, and have to angle into an ice patch on the way out of the turn.
My favorite run tonight was Smith Walton. This trail starts with a deceptively gentle slope, then suddenly falls into a fast, steep run. It's a wide trail, so there is plenty of room to bail out if need be.
About halfway down Smith Walton is the Bullock Lodge Cider House on the hill, which offers coffee, hot cider, cookies, and a cozy fireside stretch.
Be sure to visit Wachusett Mountain's web site for more information about skiing there. It's a fantastic place for families and only a short trip from Boston, Worcester, and Springfield.
