Located on the Southeast Coast halfway between Boston and Plymouth, Scituate is an ideal coastal community that has seen a marked increase in population during the past 15 years. With five beaches, three golf courses, a great school system, and a community that is caring and friendly, it's easy to understand why! Our history is especially rich and there are many historical landmarks (including Scituate Lighthouse) and interesting stories that go with them. There are many, many diverse groups including activities/sports for kids and adults alike,a Newcomers club, groups dedicated to beautification and "green" energy, a Senior Center, a diverse library, boat clubs and some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. The opening of the Greenbush commuter rail last fall has added to the South Shore's appeal for commuters to Boston. Our local market conditions in Scituate, Cohasset and Hingham remain good, some feel it is because of the train. There are two main commercial areas, Scituate Harbor and North Scituate. Plenty of restaurants featuring local cuisine, unique gift shoppes, and services and yet, Scituate remains a "quaint" seaside town.
