I am 100% French but may have been Italian in another life! One of my favorite small restaurants in Worcester is Ciao Bella on 402 Grove Street. I just love Italian food and Ciao Bella's menu has lots of delicious Italian favorites. I met a friend there the other day and enjoyed a nice garden salad with lemon chicken soup, but many come here for their pizza.
Also voted "Best Caterer" for many years, Ciao Bella serves many italian dishes. Their sauce is light but yet very rich in flavor. It's their "secret ingredient" that has customers coming back. We LOVE their chicken and eggplant parm. Their portions are very generous.
To visit Ciao Bella's website and view their menu, go to http://ciaobellarestaurant.biz/. For more information, you can visit www.worcestermass.org. If you are in the mood for a hotdog, this is the first place that should come to mind! George's Coney Island on 158 Southbridge Street is a Worcester staple. Voted in Worcester Magazine as one of the best places that men like to eat and also as the best hot dog place in Worcester, this long time family-owned business is thriving.
Founded in 1918, it has remained in its landmark location. In 1927, George Tsagarelis purchased the famous hot dog business and 11 years later, expanded it to include wooden booths, an art deco design, formica countertops and a tile floor. These main features remain inside today. My parents had their first date there in the late 1950s and engraved their initials on one of the booths. Two hotdogs, soda pop and a bag of chips cost only a dollar back then!
You can't miss the 60 foot neon sign that was erected in 1940 either. "Coney Island Hot Dogs" still lights up the Worcester sky and still attracts many hungry hot dog lovers!
