Yarmouth, MA

Yarmouth, Massachusetts is located in the middle of the Cape Cod peninsula, extending from Cape Cod Bay on the north to the shores of Nantucket Sound on the south. Originally settled by the Pilgrims in 1639, Yarmouth was incorporated later that same year. Early industry was dominated by agriculture and maritime activities, with extensive trade at both the northern and southern ports. The arrival of a railroad in the 1800s precipitated Yarmouth's emergence as a popular tourist destination, and the town remains an active resort community with several downtown shops today.

The most striking physical features of Yarmouth are the result of glaciations; the low round hills on the north side of town were created by the leading edge of the glacier as it pushed the land before it. The flat sandy terrain of the southern part of town is the apron of material that was washed out from the glacial ice.

Yarmouth is a member of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District and has five excellent public schools. Recent years have seen the emergence of a significant artistic community in Yarmouth, with a growing number of professional and community music, art, dance and theater groups in town. Yarmouth enjoys a variety of recreational programs, and facilities include fifteen public saltwater beaches, five freshwater beaches and two municipal golf courses.

YES this beach has facilities and a small snack bar - it does cost $15 to park all day and you can go to another Yarmouth beach with your Day Pass!!

Yarmouth House on the Cape, Fine Dining on Route 28!

Last night, dinner at the Yarmouth House!!! What a beautiful restaurant to sit and enjoy the company and the food! Starting with a nice glass of wine, bread with garlic infused olive oil....

Appetizer consisted of bacon wrapped scallops and a bisque to "dip" - Are you getting hungry yet? Next was a wonderful garden salad with house dressing.....AND THEN....If you LOVE Lobster or Seafood...This is the place to EAT.....I had a baked, stuffed Lobster and baked potato (so by now the baked potato was OUT).... The crab stuffing and lobster was just delightful....I even put on my bib!!!


So if you are heading down to Cape Cod - Make Reservations at the Yarmouth House!!! Call early in the day and request a window seat or a seat by the "water wheel".... AND enjoy the atmosphere and FOOD!
