MARC Commuter Appreciation Day

The county officials in Harford County, Maryland have worked hard to expand the availability and the safety of the rail commuter service to Harford County.

This has been growing in importance as the county expands due to a heavy influx of employers and employees related to the BRAC initiative.

There is also a heavy demand for rail commuting from Harford County to Baltimore City, BWI Airport, and the DC region.

The Maryland governor, Martin O'Malley, has also pushed for more funding for rail expansion and improvement throughout the state.

The increased use of rail will help to provide a cleaner environment by reducing the number of cars on the road. With a rapid expansion of Maryland's economy, it has been difficult to maintain sufficient roadways to keep congestion low.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2011, Harford County officials will be there to greet riders and to show their appreciation for using this relatively clean and efficient form of transportation.

Maryland: Armed Forces Broadcast

No, this is not the Armed Forces Radio Network.

However, it should be picked up by them and broadcast to all service men and women who are making a move to Maryland.

Do you want to rent, do you want to buy, do you want to rent with an option to buy, do you want to invest, do you want to do anything with real estate in the State of Maryland?

If so, then you should give me a call.

I am most appreciative of the service which you have provided to your nation and its citizens and I would like to return the favor.

Purchasing real estate can be a hectic and complicated endeavor, but my goal will be to reduce the stress and simply the entire process.

Evaluating properties, determining reasonable prices, negotiating contracts, finding appropriate financing, coordinating inspections and appraisals, and seeing transactions through to completion is my job and I take it very seriously.

Give me a call and let me start to work for you as soon as you are ready.

Fort Monmouth and Teleworking

Fort Monmouth and Teleworking

If your work was associated with Fort Monmouth in New Jersey, then you have been left with the difficult choice of relocating with your job to Maryland or staying in the familiar surroundings of New Jersey and finding another job.

This is all related to the military base realignment and closure initiative (BRAC) which has forced the closing of Fort Monmouth and the relocation of its operations to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

But, there may be another option available to you. That option is "Teleworking".

With teleworking you could stay in New Jersey and do the majority of your work there in your home remote from the physical location from where the assignments originate at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

However, even with teleworking, there is the occasional need to physically be present at the facility, so you may need to commute sometimes.

If your job is suitable for teleworking, then there may be two conditions which need to be addressed.

  • First to consider, is whether or not your home environment is suitable for teleworking. If it is not, then you may still have an option. This would be to travel locally to a "Work Center". The work center would have all of the necessary office needs such as internet service and office machines. If such a place does not exist in your area, then you may get together with other potential teleworkers and see if you can create a place. This may involve renting a place or purchasing a place. If you purchase, then you could charge rent to the others or you could make the purchase as a group. Keep in mind, that Fort Monmouth has plenty of open space for such a venture and it is likely that those in charge of reestablishing business at the Fort would be eager to get anything happening.
  • Second, if you can telework, but you still need to make the occasional commute, then it may work best if you had a place for temporary stays in Maryland. Similar to New Jersey, you could rent or purchase a place in Maryland for just this purpose.

So look into teleworking a little more closely and see if it could work for you.

Telework may be an option for some.

Harford County, Maryland: Public Transportation

Harford County, Maryland: Public Transportation

It was not long ago that Harford County Maryland was very much a rural county.

Over the years, development took place, but mostly of a residential nature, whereby it had become a suburb of Baltimore City.

But now, primarily due to the military base realignment and closure initiative (BRAC), the county is seeing a heavy influx of businesses and their associated jobs, all of which is causing an increase in population and congestion.

The companies are locating along the Route 40 corridor or in reasonably close proximity to Aberdeen Proving Ground, which is the driving economic force.

However, the new residents are moving into all parts of the county.

The Harford County government just gave a press release to let the public know that it does have a public mass transportation system and that it is improving and expanding.

The system covers the major towns, such as Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Bel Air, Edgewood, and such.

It, also, links directly to the MARC Commuter Train depots.

So, do not think that you need your car for all of your travels, because you can "Link" with others, save on gas, and prevent traffic congestion.
