Join the Maryland State Police and Special Olympics on January 29th to help raise money at the Polar Bear Plunge 2011 in Annapolis. This is the 15th year that the Maryland State Police have used this event to raise money for Special Olympics Maryland.
With a $50 pledge, all participants get to take a quick "plunge" in the Chesapeake Bay and receive a 15th Anniversary Plunge sweatshirt as well as an anniversary gift that is yet to be announced. The more money you raise, the more cool stuff they can earn. Prizes will be announced at the event.

The more money you raise, the better the prizes are.
Raise $500 = Receive a Plunge fleece
Raise $1000 = Receive a Plunge fleece and bag
Raise $1500 = Receive a Plunge fleece, bag and parking pass (only available to first 200 people to raise $1500 before January 15, 2011)
Raise $2500 = Receive Plunge fleece, bag, parking pass and luxury bathrobe
Raise $3500 = Receive Plunge fleece, bag, parking pass, luxury bathrobe and more
The Polar Bear Plunge is a family oriented event. No alcohol is permitted on the premises during the event. All participants are allowed to take their plunge in the designated areas only. No diving. All ages are allowed to participate. However, if you are under the age of 18, you will need the signature of your parent or guardian first. No wetsuits allowed either. If you're not freezing your own "fur" off, you aren't taking the Polar Bear Plunge!
General parking will be made available at the Sandy Point Sate Park. However, unlike in the years past, it will not be on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, there will be a lottery draw done. If you are unable to park at the Sandy Point State Park, a shuttle will be available to and from the park at the following locations for free beginning at 8am:
