About Baltimore's Druid Heights

Druid Heights, Baltimore City, Maryland

June Piper-Brandon CDPE, CIAS, ePro, Assoc. Broker : Real Estate Agent in Baltimore, MD

Houses along Druid Hill Avenue and McCulloh Street were constucted during the 1890's. The homes contain large interior design with three stories and as many as five bedrooms. During the 1920's homes were built on Etting Street. Etting Street was formerly a stream of water known as "Spicer's Run". Many of these homes fell into disrepair after the King riots in 1968. Druid Heights CDC has been regaining title to many derelict properties along McCulloh, Druid Park Dr. and Division and is now selling those through Advance Realty Anne Arundel to visionary home owners who will purchase these homes using 203K financing to rehab them and make them shine once more.

In addition to these homes there is also a new housing development called Baker's View, located on Baker Street and some surrounding blocks

Druid Heights CDC provides comprehensive housing counseling in the areas of tenancy, pre & post homeownership, mortgage default/delinquency prevention, financial accountability, forbearance, repairing credit, home equity mortgage conversion, predatory lending and fair housing laws, through daily individual counseling, and quarterly group workshops and seminars. DHCDC's comprehensive housing counseling services has directly resulted in increasing homeownership, converting public housing tenants to homeowners, financially stabilizing elderly homeowners, expanding the housing opportunities for persons with disabilities, reducing the number of potential buyers ensnared by predatory lending schemes, and increasing resident educational housing services to homeless and transitional housing families.

In addition to these programs the CDC also offers the necessary housing counselling for prospective home owners to purchase using CDA or other city programs that require counselling services. These programs are offered by Chloe Williams, who can be contacted daily at the Druid Heights CDC, just call 410-523-1350, ext 17 and make an appointment.
