Stress is a physical response by an outside stimulus. This response consists of an abrupt change in a person's physical, emotional, or mental well being. Way back when, we were hunting and gathering in caves, stress was our "Fight or Flight" response. When you get those goosebumps. (Which is actually when we used to tuft out fur, much like out cat does when it's afraid) You heart starts racing, your blood starts pumping...you are experiencing stress.

The difference is, today, we're not being chased down by a Saber Tooth Tiger. Our economy is a bit trying and we are all working harder than ever. Our daily routines continue: We may have to pick the kids up from school, meet a client for a walk through by 5, make dinner, then go back to to office to sign a contract with the 5th offer for this customer. There are three types of Stress:

Astress: Is when an individual is under stimulated: Bored, feels worthless, has no real purpose.

Distress: Is when a person is over worked, overwhelmed, exhausted. Experiencing high anxiety.

Eustress: Is good Stress! This is your first date. You ride on a roller coaster. Your First Sell. Your Wedding Day. This Kind of stress energizes you and makes you focus.

Anything from your diet, to your exercise, to your sleeping habits, to your breathing methods can help manage stress.

-Take just a half hour out of your day (in the beginning or towards the end) to have to yourself. Meditate during this time. Turn your phone off and try to thing positively. Negative Cognition is a very huge factor in stress. The more positive outlook one maintains the more at ease you will be!

-Laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. Which I do and if you know me you will know the chuckle across he room. Watch a comedy when on down time. Call up that friend that always has a good joke. Play with a pet who is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

-Eat your greens and stay away from that caffeine. Foods like spinach, eggplant, Brussel sprouts are high in antioxidants that actually lower stress levels.

-Exercise. Now, before you freak out, don't think you have to join some turbo fitness club. Go take a walkaround the neighborhood. You will feel refreshed and revived in no time. Bring an Ipod and listen to your favorite tunes or go with nothing to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
