If you are in the Deep Creek Lake area on March 14th you need to mark your calendars to attend the Deep Creek Lions Las Vegas Night. It will be held at the Santé Fe Grill in McHenry from 7 PM to 11 PM.
Try your luck at Black Jack, Poker or on a spin of the wheel. Proceeds go to support the Blind Skier Program at the Wisp Resort.
This year my husband and I are going to eat dinner at Santé Fe Grill and then gamble. They have a nice menu selection and I am going to recommend their 3 Enchilada Appetizers!

Coming to Deep Creek Lake and taking time to enjoy all the activities that the area has to offer has its rewards. But there is also time out to catch up on some private time and each other. Fireside Deli and Wine Shop is a place where you can do just that! Every Saturday from 12-4 you can taste some wine from small vintners around the world. The shop offers an extensive selcetion of fine wine. Of course there is some great gourmet food and gifts as well. It could be nice to have a picnic basket packed by the friendly staff and head to one of our beautiful parks around the area. Either way after a few classes life could be good!

Last week I was driving home after an ok work day. Even though my day had not been the best I was all excited about the nice day we were having at Deep Creek Lake. We had some fresh snow on the ground and the sun was shining. The sun made the snow glisten and the air smelled so clean! It made me walk a little faster and my energy started to increase.
I decided to stop and get gas. There were several people at Slope Side so I decided to go inside and say hello. We started talking and I got engrossed in conversation. I got a coke and headed to my car. My music came on (Mama Mia) and I thought this is an end to a really nice day. I turn 60 this year and I know it must be hard to picture an overweight 60 year old woman bopping to music, but I do!
As I was pulling away from the gas tank, I heard this terrible noise. Then I saw the lady next to me looking at me with this look of horror on her face. It took less than 5 seconds to realize that I had not taken the hose out of my gas tank. I pulled over and there is lying on the ground. I picked it up and proceeded into the market to tell them of my mistake. They were very nice and said no problem. We only come after the folks that do this but just drive away.
So if this ever happens to you, don't forget to make sure that you let the station know, as it can save you some dollars. Was my day still OK? Absolutely!
