I have followed the works of Frank Lloyd Wright for many years. I have seen many of his buildings, Taliesin West and have seen the work of graduates of his school at Taliesin West. His designs continue to fascinate me and every 4 to 6 weeks, my husband I take a break and head up to the Falling water Museum Store and restaurant. Our log home has touches of his furniture through-out, here at Deep Creek Lake Maryland.

I have been talking so much about Deep Creek Lake, that I sometimes forget to talk about all the wonderful areas there are to explore in the surrounding area.

It takes us about an hour to get to Fallingwater from Deep Creek Lake. It is an easy drive and as you head into Pennsylvania, you will experience some beautiful scenery. The tours tend to be booked so you need to call ahead. There is ample parking and the restaurant has healthy choices. Of course there are the home made cookies that are simply wonderful.

Fallingwater is worth a day trip when you are in the Deep Creek Lake area. You can even take a photo op where Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie stood on their visit to Fallingwater!

Snowmobiling in Maryland at Wisp Resort
Race across the powder on these power sleds! Day or night (weather permitting), big and little kids alike will love driving their own snowmobile. The 30-minute guided tours are offered daily on groomed trails and backcountry (weather permitting).

30-minute Guided Tour:Adult Rider: $55Child Passenger: $15
Reservations: Advance reservations require a credit card and can be made by calling 301.387.4911. Day of the tour reservations require payment. Non-refundable 48 hours prior to your scheduled reservation. All reservations are weather permitting. Tour Check-In: Check in at the Nordic Center behind the Wisp Resort Hotel at least fifteen (15) minutes before your scheduled tour. Here you will pay for the tour and complete a snowmobile release form. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature on the release form. You will also be fitted for a helmet. Please note that all tours will start on time. If a guest does not arrive on time for his or her tour, the tour will start as scheduled to avoid delays for other riders and for additional tours.
Tour: At the beginning of the tour, each guest will be given a warm up tour on the basic operation of the snowmobile. Once each rider is comfortable with basic snowmobile operation, the tour will begin. The guest will be required to learn forward, back, left and right to successfully drive the snowmobile around the course. Please note that the tour is both driver and rider active. All snowmobiles must follow the guide, single file. The tour speed is the same speed as the slowest rider.
Please note that guests who do not follow the Guide, rules or ride in an unsafe manner will ride back to the Lodge on the back of the guide sled and will not be refunded for the tour.
Rules for Snowmobiling:
Drivers must have a valid Drivers License to drive the snowmobile.Passengers must be a child due to weight limit restrictions. The combined weight of the driver and the child passenger cannot exceed 350 pounds..
Drivers and riders must sign the release. A parent or guardian must sign for riders or drivers who are under 18.
Every person on the tour must wear a helmet.
Only one adult rider per snowmobile.
You must be at least 16 years old with a valid Driver's License to drive the snowmobile.
You must be at least 6 years old to ride as a passenger on a snowmobile.
Warm clothes including gloves and snow-appropriate footwear are strongly recommended. A full-face helmet will be provided for each driver & rider so goggles and hats are not necessary.
Any rider or driver who has been drinking alcohol or is under the influence of drugs may not drive or ride the snowmobile.
Unsafe operation of the snowmobiles or disregard of any rules will result in the guest(s) being returned to the Lodge without a refund.

Our new web site Deep Creek Lake 360.com was launched this week. On Friday we met with Lance Bell and Colby Ellsworth of AAD Design in Cumberland Maryland and the company will be taking over our web site in the next few weeks. We have had lots of compliments on this site and we have a feeling that it is only going to get better, with this type of talent helping us.

AT LAST after 18 months! Our new web site www.DeepCreekLake360.com launched today. We are so excited. We still have some work to do, so give us a few weeks to make some adjustments. We meet with some new consultants on Friday to take this web site to a "higher level". We have hired Lance Bell and Colby to iron out a few areas of concern and make sure this site is one people will want to come back to time and time again.

So go ahead and take a look and don't forget to come back and take another look in a few weeks.

Last week some of my co-workers and I had lunch out of the office. We grabbed some sandwiches at Arrowhead and ate lunch at Silver Ridge, off 219. On the way back to the office we saw something awesome. Kites flying first caught our attention. Then we realized that the people holding the kites were moving. They were on skis! What is this? No one seemed to know. The day was overcast so that we felt we could not get good photos and passed on trying. Oh, I wish we had gotten those photos or at least tried. I have been down to the lake several times but have not seen that event since. If anyone has any photos we would love for you to share them.
