Just a reminder for everyone. We always hear to check your credit at least once a year. We see commercials advertising free credit reports on tv all the time.
Just in case you aren't aware, you can look at your credit report for free at www.annualcreditreport.com once a year. Since you are only permitted to pull it once a year, a good tip is to pull it on your birthday! You only have one per year, so it just makes sense.
The reporting scores that you get will vary from the scores that a Lender will receive on your report. This is due to the fact that it's a consumer report and those scores tend to be slightly higher than the scoring used for mortgages. It's a common misconception and often difficult to explain to consumers, especially when the lender gives them a negative response.
In today's marketplace, many credit providers are reducing the limits on consumers accounts. This could impact your credit score big time if you have a slightly high balance and they lower it to your current balance! When they lower your limit you might be over half the amount of high limit which in turn reduces your credit score. We always recommend that customers never take their balance over half the limit so as to not have any points reduced on your score. The computer brains at the credit bureau thinks you are maxing out your card and therefore the score gets reduced.
The next reason to check on that credit is identity theft. With today's economy the way it is and many, many people are out of work, often this generates increased crime statistics. Desperate people do desperate things. So now its more important than ever to keep an eye on that credit report, especially if you've gone green and aren't getting paper statements any longer.

Over the years, I have noticed that Realtors as a whole are among the top in giving to community and those in need. Our industry taking the huge hit the last 18 months has actually put many of our Realtors friends and colleagues into that "I need help" category. So this post goes out to those that are still making it as well as those that are struggling through this economy.
I have always been involved in charity work, no matter what business I have been in. I have always believed in giving back to community and those in need, of course, in these times I feel even more strongly that it is an important thing to do. Strengthening the family has got to be a top priority for most people this Christmas Season.
Angel Food Ministeries is an organization that has been distributing quality, healthy food to anyone who can afford the $30 to buy the basic box. Their saying of "If you eat, You qualify" has held true since their inception. The First Church of God of Middle River is the local host site for distribution which occured just last Saturday for the month of November 2008. Click on the picture to see video of the day! (Heres the story about Distribution Day)
This post is not about the great things that are happening at the church or with Angel Food, but with the mission that we as a church have taken on.
Angel Food has put together a "Christmas Box" of food that will give a family of 4 a nice meal for Christmas. The box comes at a cost of $35, which many people are purchasing, but with so many families in need (Our current needs list of families and seniors is over 175 in the community) we want to supply as many of the Christmas Boxes, or $30 basic boxes, possible at no charge to them.
This is a lofty goal, for a small congregation, in these troubling times but we have faith. It is our determination to do what we can to make everyones Christmas a little brighter. If you can help, in any way, I urge you to contact Pastor Scott Grogg at 410-391-2555 or myself at 443-912-4866.
Like most, my income took a nose dive this year, but I am still committed to this cause and helping with everything I can. Please take a moment to read about Novembers distribution day and the stories of those that came and gave.
Thank you

Even Realtors need time off now and again. This past weekend I decided to take time off and headed up to Bengie's Drive-In in Baltimore, MD. Yes, I said drive-in. Bengie's is the only drive-in left in MD that I know of, and they have the largest movie screen in the country, so it was definitely worth the long drive.
$8 got me admission in for three movies Saturday Night: WALL-E; The Dark Knight; and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I got there around 8pm, and stayed until after 3am! Exhausted? Yes! It was a neat experience though, and I highly recommend checking them out. They have dusk till dawn special features, and chances are I'll be up there the next time the hold one!
Oh, Admission is free for the driver on Sunday's if you drive an antique or street rod up there!
