Knock Knock! Door Knock..Who Me? You Must Be Kidding!
ActiveRain member and friend, Jane Peters, recently wrote a post "To Door Knock or Not to Door Knock..."?
And my comment...
"... Just today when showing a house that the buyer did not like, I said: Do you see any home on this street that you like?
She pointed to a home diagonally across the street. I walked over, knocked on the door...and you will have to wait for a future post to find out what happened."..
###########################
The future is here..
I knocked on the door and a lovely couple came out to talk with us. They love their home and it really shows pride of ownership. The gardens, the lawn, the exterior sparkled..she did apologize for having "stuff" in the garage. After talking about her home and the neighborhood, I asked if there might be anyone around thinking of selling. Hubby says.."why don't you sell the house next door?"
But is this neighbor was ready to sell? Only one way to find out...and what did I have to lose?
I went over, knocked on the door, introduced myself. I told him I was working with buyers, had shown a listed home across the street and about the conversation with his next door neighbors.
Before you knew it, I was in his house, taking a tour, looking at photos of his children and grand kids, talking about where he would move. I gave him my business card and he gave me his cell phone number.
We both wanted to know if the other was serious. He wanted to know if these were qualified buyers and I wanted to know if he would really move with the right offer.
The next thing you know, the buyers are touring the house, with the understanding that it was far from show ready. It is the kind of house they are looking for...a four bedroom colonial, with hardwood floors, a big level back yard, a large basement for storage and in their favorite neighborhood.
I made a follow up call...Stay tuned. The seller is trying to figure out where he will move...and the buyers are ready to make an offer based on his decision.
Knock Knock..Door Knock..Who Me? You Must Be Kidding!

Our lovely host and hostesses, Margaret Rome, Realtor extraordinaire, flanked by Joel and Janet, the current owners and happy sellers to be of 14 Timber Way Ct Reisterstown, MD 21136. They are sitting at the island in the lovely and spacious kitchen. Can you see those built-ins behind them? Wouldn't that be a fantastic place for all your books or tchotchke's? You could even turn that area into a home office, that's what Janet did many years ago. Just perfect!

Photo of Mortgage Mama and Stephen Cooper(American Home Title). Stephen is one of Active Rain's newest members. Check out that cool ceiling in the huge dining room. There are wooden ceilings throughout the main floor of this unique home!Photo by Sydney, the mortgage princess, also known as "Baby Razzi"

Mortgage Princess Sydney dressed to the nines for the party.

Another photo by Sydney...now that is one amazing mix of Active Rain pros. From left, Mortgage Mama (yours truly), the lovely attorney and YWGC Realtor Helen Dellheim, Chip Frye(Stager and Wrightsville Beach, NC Realtor Tish Lloyd's brother), our hostess Margaret Rome, the amazingly busy and fabulous Charm City Realtor June Piper-Brandon, Freeland, MD's Rosa Almond (new agent/new blogger), and David Cohenof Wells Fargo (his very first AR blog was on May 3rd, how's that for jumping into the Rain with both feet!!) There were lot of other folks in attendance, including the ever lovely Ellie McIntire (I am thinking one day we will be setting up her Drew and my Sydney...could be one heck of a match!) and Mike Bishop (Reverse Mortgage Specialist and yet another new blogger.) Charlie the Bug guy was there too, everybody knows Charlie I was told cause he is one of the best in the business.

Margaret was so happy to have Chris Hooksand her broker Joe Pino (just dipping a toe into the puddle, Come on in Joe, the water is fine!) make the drive from New Jersey to attend the Garden party. Don't you just love how much light comes into this great kitchen, even on a rainy day in Baltimore?!

Margaret, what did you think of the coddies? We thought they were so tasty!

Kim Jones(GBBR Rookie Society Mentor and all around great gal) and Rosa Almond just coming back from a tour of the lower level. I love the granite at the top of the spiral staircase.

I LOVE, Love, Love this hall way! Can't you just picture the possibilities? Someone at the garden party said that it would be a great hall for match box car races!
This is one great Great Room!

The possibilities are endless for this room-Crafts, Games, Play Room, What would you make it?

I don't even think the folks on Hoarders could fill up this storage area! It's HUGE!

Check out this awesome custom kitchen cabinet, that has two separate racks, one behind the other, they swing out for easy reach!

Spice Cabinet...wow!

Under cabinet trash cans....don't you just love the color of the cabinets? The counters are a gorgeous silestone (I think) There's plenty of storage in this fabulous custom kitchen! Plenty of room for all the cooks to stay out of each other's way, and a great area for entertaining! This is a home built for spending time with family and friends.

After a wonderful afternoon, it was time to head out. The last of the party guests reluctantly gathered their things (think our hosts and this home made them feel welcome?), and headed out the door, through the lovely covered porch with beautiful flowers all around, past the four car garage, and up the driveway carved through the forest of trees. The setting of this contemporary custom built home really gives one the feeling you are much farther away from all the conveniences that are really just a short drive away. In just a few minutes, Sydney and I hopped on 795 and were on our way home, the sun even decided to peek out from behind the clouds.
Can't wait for the next time the Active Rainers gather...I hear that Martha Brown's hosting a Garden Party in Annapolis soon. I sure hope we are all invited!
Margaret Rome knows how to throw a party!
