St. Mary's City - River Concert Series at St. Mary's College - What a great way to enjoy summer! Now in its 9^th season, the River Concert Series will have events every Friday evening until July 27^th. The free outdoor concerts overlook the St. Mary's River. The grounds open at 5:00 P.M. and concerts begin at 7:00 P.M.

The 2010 River Concert Series starts at 7:00pm, but go earlier to find a nice spot. There are 3 kinds of "sits" available:

1- Serious Listening - in front of the stage - total silence!

2 - Casual Listening - in the middle - people who likes to talk, have a pick-nick and listen to the music at the same time.

3 - Serious socializing - far away from the stage - you know what I mean! ;)

Pick your sit and I see you there!

Don't forget: repellent, a chair, photo-camera, and a cooler with beverage, wine, whatever you like. There are stands selling stuff there if you don't want to bring nothing. But expect long lines...

2010 River Concert Series - All concerts are FREE! Concerts begin each Friday at 7 PM. The grounds on Townhouse Green at St. Mary's College of Maryland open at 5 PM for picnicking or purchasing food from a wide variety of vendors.

June 18 Birthday Boys - Jeffrey Silberschlag and the Chesapeake Orchestra celebrate the special birthdays of Samuel Barber and Robert Schumann, featuring Jeffrey Chappell, piano.

June 25 Trills and Thrills - Giuseppe Nova, flute, Floraleda Sacchi, harp, and Orlando Roman, guitar, join Jeffrey Silberschlag and the Chesapeake Orchestra for an evening of music including Stravinsky's "Pulcinella Suite" and R. Strauss' "Bourgeois Gentilhomme Suite."

The River Concert Series is in full swing, with only four performances left. This year marks the 11th year for St. Mary's College's presentation of great music and cultural enrichment to the residents of Southern Maryland.

The July 10th performance (this Friday) features the wonderful music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The music selections will be performed by the Chesapeake Orchestra led by guest conductor, Larry Vote. The audience will be entertained by the famous voices of Diane Atheron (soprano), Olivia Vote (mezzo-soprano), Stephen Cramer (tenor) and Robert McDonald (bartione).

* The River Concert Series is open to the public and free to all.
* Sit up front if you are a serious listener and towards the back if you are a serious socializer.
* Don't forget to bring your picnic basket with you and a blanket. Food and drinks will be avialable for purchase.
* Designated lots for parking will be clearly visible. There is no parking along Route 5. All concerts begin at 7pm and gates will open at 5:00 pm.
