Chief Wawatam statute located in Mackinaw City MI
The Mackinaw bridge stretches from Mackinaw City in the lower peninsular to St. Ignace in the upper peninsular. Stopped at this little park and took some pictures of the bridge, boats and other incredible sights one day last week.
The Mackinaw Bridge from the park and a passenger boat headed for Mackinaw Island. What beautiful signts to be seen and many historical landmarks here in the area.

History does nothing; it does not possess immense riches, it does not fight battles. It is men, real, living, who do all this.

From Wikipedia, the free encylopedia
Burt Lake is a 17,120 acre (69 km²) lake in Cheboygan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The western shore of the lake is on the boundary with Emmet County. The lake is named after William Austin Burt, who, together with John Mullett, made a federal survey of the area from 1840 to 1843.
The lake is approximately 10 miles (16 km) long from north to south, about 5 miles (8 km) at its widest, and 73 feet (22 m) at its deepest. Major inflows to the lake are the Maple River, which connects with nearby Douglas Lake, the Crooked River, which connects with nearby Crooked Lake, and the Sturgeon River which enters the lake near the point where the Indian River flows out of the lake into nearby Mullett Lake.
The lake is part of the great Inland Waterway, by which one can boat from Crooked Lake several miles (km) east of Petoskey on the Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan across the northern tip of the lower peninsula's so-called mitten to Cheboygan on Lake Huron. Along with nearby Mullett Lake and Black Lake, it is noted for its population of Lake Sturgeon, which briefly held the record of largest sturgeon caught in the USA.

Burt Lake, Michigan's 4th largest inland lake with 17,120 acres of surface water, boasts crystal clear water, great fishing and boating, and is connected to the rest of the Inland Waterway where you can boat to the Great Lakes. The shoreline is dotted with cottages, old and new, quaint and grand, and old majestic trees and sandy beaches. Burt Lake is a gem in the North, and so many people have yet to discover it's beauty.

It's time again. The Indian River Michigan Top O'Michigan Marathon Boat Races are going on as I post this blog, bringing in people from all over to race and watch as the small power boats race up and down the Inland Waterway.
Seems to be a good group of people in town, definitely more traffic than was around last weekend. The weather is perfect, low 80's and sunny. Still some great weather to be had up here, so come on, what are you waiting for!
If you've never experienced it, make plans next year to stop by and see for yourself! you can also see my blog post with a video about the races, just scroll through the list and you'll see it.
And stop by my website anytime to browse the Indian River, Michigan area real estate listings. www.InlandWaterwayRealEstate.com

It's hard to believe its summer here in Northern Michigan, with the wave of cooler air hitting and the lack of traffic. This has been a trend over the last few summers, where the month of June is quite slow in regards to real estate activity here in the Indian River area. One can make a whole lot of assumptions and point a lot of fingers, but the fact is our summers are even shorter now for the "prime selling season".
July and August rank highest in our area for volume of visitors, and volume of transactions written. Last year there was a terrific 6 week period where it was as if the bad economy didn't matter, and many homes were under contract. And then, like a switch was turned off, the frenzy ceased and people went back home.
This year there are more homes for sale, and appears to be better pricing as well. If there are people ready, willing, and able to purchase real estate, they can expect a large selection and overall good pricing, whether it is waterfront, acreage, in town or out of town.
Take some time and browse my real estate website for some beautiful deals and let me know how I can help you take advantage of this market.
