Lansing, MI April 2009 Real Estate Market Update

Robert Dowding ~ Realtor ~ Greater Lansing, MI: Real Estate Agent in Lansing, MI

April 2009 Market Update for Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties in Michigan. The Robert Dowding team at Keller Williams Realty is dedicated to providing you with the most up to date statistice and trends available.

We are now officially in the full swing of the spring real estate market in the Tri-County area of Mid Michigan. With the addition of buyer incentives and continued affordability of housing we are seeing another month of promising numbers.

Average sales prices were fairly stable as compared to March 2009 numbers with exception of Eaton County that experienced a difficult March but rebounded well in April. We are still down from 2008 which is to be expected. The promising numbers are the number of units sold. All three counties reported increases in units sold with Ingham and Eaton counties over 40%! May has been very busy as well and I would expect to see this trend continue.

Foreclosure Indicator Down - Sign of a Turnaround in Lansing, MI

Robert Dowding ~ Realtor ~ Greater Lansing, MI: Real Estate Agent in Lansing, MI

So I recieved a call yesterday evening from Alison Himelhoch of WLNS 6 News asking for an interview of me to discuss the declining sheriff's deeds in Ingham County, Michigan as compared to last years numbers. I have communicated with Alison in the past but was sceptically of this subject as it is kind of a hot button. The numbers don't represent an accurate picture of our market due to the moratorium that was applied to sheriff's deed last year. So I turned her down as I did not want to be the one to deliver the bad news.

5-10 minutes later I had a change of heart. Wanting to make sure the public got to hear from the Real Estate community was important to me and WLNS. I decided that I could be that voice to make sure everyone had an opportunity to hear our side of the story. My message came across fairly well I think, our interview included a lot more positive statements about the market but overall I think it went well.

I look forward to your thoughts and have a great day.

I am working on getting a copy of the video so I can post it elsewhere. Click the photo to view the link to vieo from WLNS 6 News.
