Lighthouses in Ludington, Michigan

Michael Delaware, CRS, e-Pro: Real Estate Agent in Battle Creek, MI

There are three lighthouses in the Ludington Michigan area, and this past Labor Day my wife and I were passing through and decided to stop and take some pictures. There is one that is close to downtown and one can walk to on a pier, or an adjacent pier and take photos. There is another one that is part of a State park that one walks down the beach to, and can go inside and explore. We opted to take the some photos of the one closest to the pier, as we were pressed for time. Here are some pictures that I took.

I am getting ready to head South to show some homes, which could be an adventure with US-31 closed in Mason County. I am told that all of the roads in Mason County running North-South are blocked off. The alternative route of M55 to M37 to US10 is a big detour and will add nearly an hour to my trip. Unless of course, I find a little-known route that can get me through. :) That sounds like my kind of adventure!

Click here for a map which shows some of the closed roads.

And here's an updated list of roads closed in Mason County (from the Ludington Daily News website):

Information on storm damage in Manistee & Mason County Michigan

**********NEWS ALERT - SEVERE WEATHER DAMAGE IN MASON & MANISTEE COUNTIES (MICHIGAN)***********

Due to severe flooding, Mason County is in a state of emergency. Roads have been shut down throughout the county and there is no passable route between Ludington & Manistee. US 31 is currently closed. Residents are being advised to take US-10 to M-37 to M-55. There is severe flooding, bridges are washed out and roads have caved in. Use extreme caution when driving anywhere near Ludington, Scottville, Fountain, Freesoil and Manistee.

Here in the Manistee area, the damage is also quite severe. We spent most of the night in our basement with only candles, watching the trees turn sideways and fearing tornadoes. Fortunately we did not lose any trees. Many of you know that a tree outside our home was struck by lightening just last month causing severe electrical damage and frying most of our electronics. We ran around the house unplugging everything this time! Our kids are so terrified of lightening since it hit the house, and this was a BIGGER storm!

Many of our friends have water in their basements and trees down. Most of the city is still without power and many roads are blocked off due to fallen trees and electrical wires. We are fortunate enough to have our power back on since Friday morning and internet came back just this evening. I have not heard of any injuries.

I am compiling a list of links with to the local newspapers & tv stations. Please check www.ManisteeHomes.net frequently for this information. On my website I have links to roads that are closed in Mason County, Michigan and information on beaches that are closed.

As always, feel free to email me with any questions. I can be reached at Meagan@MeaganKempf.com
