Free! Big Rapids Bandshell Concerts Wednesday nights in August

Hemlock Park Bandshell located behind the Big Rapids Middle School near the Riverwalk on the Muskegon River.

August 6th - 7 pm - Free Flight sponsored by The Sole and Fairman's Apparel, will perform Classic Rock

August 13th - 7 pm -Free Concert- The Carlos Melendez Jazz Quartet, sponsored by the Mecosta County Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitor's Bureau, will perform Jazz style music at the Bandshell located behind the Big Rapids Middle School near the Riverwalk along the Muskegon River.

August 20th - 7 pm-The Key West Permafrost Blues Band, sponsored by Ferris State University's President Office, will perform Big Band Blues style music in the Bandshell behind the Big Rapids Middle School near the Riverwalk along the Muskegon River.

August 27th - 7 pm -The Up North Jazz Quartet, sponsored by the Humanities Department of Ferris State University, will perform Jazz style music in the Bandshell located behind the Big Rapids Middle School near the Riverwalk along the Muskegon River.

Mecosta County Wheatland Music Festival

35th Annual Wheatland Music Festival
September 5-7, 2008 (Weekend after Labor Day)

Each year thousands of people converge on the 160-acre festival site to enjoy a wide variety of activities, as well as the star-studded lineup on the main stage.

There is a juried arts and crafts show, a raffle, children's activities, teen and young adult activities, instrument and dance workshops, music, food, fellowship and fun. Impromptu jam sessions can be found throughout the campgrounds all weekend long.

The annual Wheatland Music Festival is held the first weekend after Labor day in September.

Weekend Tickets are sold in advance only and are discounted for paid members. Sunday only tickets are available at the gate.

With the new Lakes Living Magazine published and out to the public I have been receiving a lot of phone calls from people who have seen it or received it in the mail. So far the response has been fantastic. I have really enjoyed working with all the people to make this magazine a reality, the advertisers, the president, even the printer. It was great meeting so many people in the community and business owners all over the area. Lakes Living was once just an idea our president had to make a publication highlighting and promoting our wonderful area of Mecosta County. We really needed something to let the public know about the recreational things that there are around here. Canadian Lakes is the type of community that a lot of people amazingly don't really know about.
