Yesterday June 22, 2010, we received the call after 3:00 p.m.:
...it stated that it was from our 'Macom' Sheriff's Office--actually pronounced as Ma-comb:
...first blush made us think this was some type of campaign or political call;
...our recording machine did not appear to have captured any message;
...but by waiting...we discovered the truth behind this call
Thankfully, we have this system in our County-
This call was an alert & a plea for information
It seems that a 74 year old gentleman, wearing a Pink short-sleeve Dress Shirt was missing.
The call went on to give his name, area last seen & asked for the Macomb County residents to keep an eye out,
and if they had information to call the Sheriff's Office.
That was yesterday, we did not eat at home last night, so missed the Local news on Channel 4
We do not know IF or how, when & by whom he was found.
The call brought back to memory two [2] relevant experiences right here on our street that happened in the last 10 years:
...one was of a gentleman seen walking in the winter in a light summer jacket & sandals; he lived one street over;
he was found by family members.
...one was an elderly woman, non-English speaking, who took a walk from her home, again within our
neighborhood; she, too was found by her family members who were driving the area looking for her.
Though we personally were not involved with the 'finding' of these two people, we felt the worry, the fright & the resulting joy at their being reunited with loved ones.
Since we have not seen, nor heard the resolution of yesterday's plea,
we are still in that heart-sinking, insecure place that you find yourself when presented with a situation
that may not end well for a loved one.
Our prayers are with that Pink short-sleeved gentleman & his family members;
May our Lord God take special care of him;
May his jauntily dressed stroll end in happiness.
Back to the system: had heard about an improved system where various municipalities are joined together in the 911 system;
...If this is one of the results of utilizing this system--Then I am 100% behind IT and any $$$$ needed to support.
Did he walk Alone or with a Special One only he Now Sees.
