It's time again. The Indian River Michigan Top O'Michigan Marathon Boat Races are going on as I post this blog, bringing in people from all over to race and watch as the small power boats race up and down the Inland Waterway.
Seems to be a good group of people in town, definitely more traffic than was around last weekend. The weather is perfect, low 80's and sunny. Still some great weather to be had up here, so come on, what are you waiting for!
If you've never experienced it, make plans next year to stop by and see for yourself! you can also see my blog post with a video about the races, just scroll through the list and you'll see it.
And stop by my website anytime to browse the Indian River, Michigan area real estate listings. www.InlandWaterwayRealEstate.com
Have a great rest of your summer,

It's hard to believe its summer here in Northern Michigan, with the wave of cooler air hitting and the lack of traffic. This has been a trend over the last few summers, where the month of June is quite slow in regards to real estate activity here in the Indian River area. One can make a whole lot of assumptions and point a lot of fingers, but the fact is our summers are even shorter now for the "prime selling season".
July and August rank highest in our area for volume of visitors, and volume of transactions written. Last year there was a terrific 6 week period where it was as if the bad economy didn't matter, and many homes were under contract. And then, like a switch was turned off, the frenzy ceased and people went back home.
This year there are more homes for sale, and appears to be better pricing as well. If there are people ready, willing, and able to purchase real estate, they can expect a large selection and overall good pricing, whether it is waterfront, acreage, in town or out of town.
Take some time and browse my real estate website for some beautiful deals and let me know how I can help you take advantage of this market.

Northern Michigan has long been the destination "north" of many downstate and out of state residents. What is the draw? one may ask. If you have never explored the area we call the "tip of the mitt", which would be Cheboygan, Emmet, and Presque Isle counties, you are missing so much of the natural beauty Michigan has to offer.
Perhaps you've traveled through on your way across the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge, or to catch a boat to Mackinaw Island, both great treasures of our state. And perhaps you've stopped off I-75 along the way to catch a bite to eat or get gas. But if you have not ventured off the highway much, you have missed the best there is to see.
If boating is your pleasure, then Indian River is your destination, setting on the beautiful shores of Burt Lake and extending the shore of Mullett Lake, one can access the Inland Waterway to boat the chain of inland lakes and rivers that connect you to the Great Lakes. But before you would ever venture out to the big waters, you could exhaust countless days exploring the 38 mile stretch of lakes and rivers, gleaning each shoreline for pristine settings and glimpses of classic cottages and giant mansions. Beginning in Pickerel Lake, the waters flow north into Crooked Lake, then up the Crooked River into Burt Lake, offering over 17,000 acres of surface area. From there the Indian River takes you into Michigan's 2nd largest lake, Mullett Lake, surpassing even Burt's mammoth size. At last you come to the Cheboygan River, which takes you on a leisurly ride towards the Great Lakes, but for more exploring you can take the "fork in the river" southeast down the Black River for several more miles of boating enjoyment. If to the Great Lakes you desire to go, a smooth ride through downtown Cheboygan will lead you to a lock system which will lower you down to the Great Lakes water level, where you can literally boat the world. Many scenic shorelines exist on the vast Great Lakes, and pristine waters await.
Indian River is a great location, not only for boating, but for camping, hiking, snowmobiling, canoing, kayaking, cross country skiing, mushroom picking, hunting, fishing, and so much more. It offers many lodging accommodations from motels to cabins and lake-front home rentals, and many great local restaurants for dining.
Located off of I-75 exit 310 and 313, we are easy to find. So make your plans to get away from the daily grind, and come enjoy the great north atmosphere of fresh and, clean waters, and beautiful nature.
If you need any information please give me a call or email me, the information is below. Also, here is a link to the Indian River Chamber of Commerce for your benefit. And if you do come up, stop by my office and say "hello" and let me know you saw this on my blog. Hope to see you "up north"!
Best regards,

Well, this is my first entry here. I'm new to the Active Rain community, but not to Real Estate. I've been selling for 11 years here with great success, and many people have made this their home away from home, their place "Up North"
My home, Indian River MI, is a wonderful small town in the tip of Michigan's lower penninsula, with large inland lakes & rivers connecting to the Great Lakes, and plenty of other smaller inland lakes, rivers and streams, dense forests, rolling hills, and the largest Elk herd East of the Mississippi.
Check it out next time you come north. There's so much to explore, and real estate prices are excellent right now if you're buying. February is almost over, but we still have over 3 feet of snow! Snowmobiling and skiing are great right now, and ice fishing too if you're into that.
