Hemker Park & Zoo in Freeport Minnesota

Hemker Park & Zoo started 30 years ago as Hemker Wildlife Park as the vision of Mark Hemker. Mark started off his vision with 2 Mallard ducks and began to create his dream of a place for animals to florish where people could come to view their activities up close and in person. Over the years Hemkers has grown into a home for over 32 different kinds of waterfowl and multiple kinds of other animals. Today Mark's children continue his dream with the Park & Zoo.

Parties, educational tours, Special Holiday events, picnics, and wagon rides are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy at the Hemker Park & Zoo. The seasonal butterfly house offers an enjoyable veiw at many different kinds of buterflies and birds. While at Hemkers be sure to chack out the new African Safari exhibit. During the winter months (November through January) Hemkers offers off site reindeer sleigh rides. Guided tours of the park from one fo the knowledgeable zookeepers and are available twice daily at 10:00am and 1:00pm. The 90 minute tour is filled with fun facts about the grounds and all of the animals.
