Situated atop a limestone bluff, nestled amongst the tall trees, hidden from the hustle and bustle of life sits Rochester, Minnesota's historic Pill Hill District.  The Who's Who of Rochester have always flocked to the residential district, seeking the architecturally renowned homes and convenient location.  The area has especially attracted the doctors and staff of Mayo Clinic as it is within walking distance to their work.  Thus the locals affectionately dubbed the beautiful bluff "Pill Hill".

Here in Pill Hill, you'll find the former home of Dr. William Mayo,co-founder of the world famous Mayo Clinic.  Lining the streets are homes by noted architects Henry Crawford, Ellerbe Architects and Garfield Schwartz, many on the National Historic Registry.  One such home which is open to the public is the Plummer House, home of noted Mayo physician Dr. Henry Plummer.

In 1990, the neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The district is situated southwest of downtown Rochester and parallels the southern path between the Mayo Clinic's Gonda Building and St. Mary's Hospital.  The Pill Hill District boundaries are roughly 3^rd St. SW to 9^th St. SW and 6^th Ave SW to 14^th Avenue SW.
