About Saint Cloud's South East St. Cloud

We have a granite foundation! Before you construct anything you must build a strong foundation. We were fortunate enough to have a granite foundation already in place in St. Cloud MN.

We are not known as Granite City for just any reason we are built on granite. Saint Cloud's nickname was actually the Nitty Gritty Granite City at the beginning of the 1900's. Just take a peek at the core sample now being used as a sign for the Rotary East Park and you will begin to understand the depths of our granite foundation.

Everyday people walk by this sign into the park and I am quite sure that there are a few, mostly rock-hounds, who will realize that this is a core sample. A 3 foot high core sample taken out of one of our local granite quarries. My guess, based on the gray color of the rock, would be that this sample came out of the Minnesota Correctional Facility quarry.

Saint Cloud also has an abundant supply of red granite as you can see from the large wall built around Selke Field in the picture.

Granite is an igneous rock, molten material becoming solid, which makes it perfect for construction as it is generally uniform in structure lacking stratification and cleavage planes.

The first granite mine in Minnesota started in the Saint Cloud area in 1868 by Breen and Young. This was the first industry, and with industry comes jobs, with the jobs came the settlers, and a town was born.

Granite is everywhere; statues, historical markers, school yard playground walls and even in many of our St. Cloud homes. Granite continues to be a vital part of our local economy today. If you come to Saint Cloud you will see evidence all over our community of what lies just beneath the surface, our granite foundation.

HUD and Foreclosed deals you might have missed!

There might be a super deal that you missed on the perfect home for you. I am finding with some pretty substantial regularity that there are features of both HUD and Bank owned homes that are being missed by the listing agent. I am not faulting them for this, they are buried under a huge list of house keeping chores from the sellers of these homes.

In the last 24 hours I just located another prime deal. This home is not yet in the MLS, but because I have started to tour all of the homes that are about to come up on the market through the HUD system or by the local REO agents I was able to spot a super buy.

This foreclosed home is located in a fantastic neighborhood, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and is listed as having a single attached garage, all of which is correct. Here is the key part of this listing that is missed on the information sheet and therefore will also be missed by all of the people looking online and agents doing auto searches: THE HOME ALSO HAS A HUGE 30 X 42 WORKSHOP!!!

This is not the first time I have found listings like this that key information that would definitely raise the value has been missed on the listing information. If you are serious about finding a home, work with an agent who takes the time to locate the deals, who will have you and your wants on their mind when they find deals like this one. Oh yea by the way, there is a full basement with more room to finish if you want and it is priced UNDER 85K in town on a large fenced lot.
