Veterans Day 11-11-11

On Veterans Day and Memorial Day I can't stop thinking about my dad. He was in the Pacific Theater in WWII and came back unrecognizable by his family. His stories were heart breaking but the two that stick with me the most are that he slept in the jungle for 18 consecutive months and never without a gun at his side. His reminsences of being in the fox hole overnight with his buddy's head staring up at him after a round of gunfire decapitated him will never leave my mind.

Just one of the many unsung heroes of his day. Thank you all but special thanks to my dad, Clem Straatmann!
