Traffic to Improve in Forsyth

Tammie Turner, B. A., Business: Real Estate Agent in Branson, MO

The Missouri Department of Transportation recently approved funding for a project to relieve traffic congestion in Forsyth at the intersection of Highway 160 and Coy Boulevard.

The intersection will be widened about 12 feet and a turn lane will be added. The turn lane will allow traffic to proceed instead of lining up behind a motorist making a left hand turn.

The project may start in Spring 2009, depending on when bids are let. If started in the spring, completion is expected to be in the fall.

Practice What We Preach

Russ Prothero: Real Estate Agent in Branson, MO

In my forty-some years of employment I've done just about everything. As a General Contractor I would build homes not just for my clients but for my wife and me. Who better to build my home? It's built right and just the way we wanted it. As a young man I was a Millwright (machine repairman) in a factory. When my auto or other machines would break down I didn't call a repairman; I simply crawled under the vehicle and got ‘er done.

In these times of slim pickings, we agents need an extra source of income that will bridge the economic gap. I've found apartment to be that bridge. It seems I've been running into agents that have been handing out advice to their clients that they themselves haven't been willing to follow. If you are going to sell real estate you need to invest in real estate. Who in the world knows the market better than you?

If you don't know a good deal when you see one, you need to get in another line of work. I hate it when I go to a Ford dealership and see a sales person driving a Toyota makes me not want to buy a Ford. Nothing wrong with a Ford but there is with the sale person.

My brother, Randy, "(Not Just Another Pretty Face" fame) and I drove down from Missouri to the NAR convention in Orlando, Florda. While we were there & I was lounging in the Jacuzzi, my tenants kept paying the rent. While I'm asleep, my tenants keep paying the rent. When I'm sick in bed, my tenants keep paying the rent.

Now not everyone is cut out to be a land lord. But if you are selling real estate as a profession, you should be able to find a nitch in the market that will keep you out of the poor house in the slim times. That old story about the tortoise and the hare comes to mind. That consistent income keeps you in the race & wolves at bay. Now if I could just figure out how to bread a tortoise and hare.

The Best-Tasting Water in Missouri is in Forsyth

Tammie Turner, B. A., Business: Real Estate Agent in Branson, MO

Located on the shores of Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Taneycomo is Forsyth, Missouri. Just 12 miles from Branson, this quaint, little town has a population of 1,670.

In addition to the courthouse and county offices, Forsyth has many other businesses to support the growing population including grocery stores, restaurants, banks, medical facilities, shops, and more.

The town of Forsyth has an interesting history. The Village of Forsyth was incorporated in December of 1890.

In 1913, Powersite Dam was built to produce electricity in the Ozarks. One of the results of this dam was the creation of Lake Taneycomo.

The town was once located about 2 miles from its present site. The reason for the change in location was the construction of Bull Shoals Dam, about 80 miles from Forsyth. The people of Forsyth had to choose between moving and ceasing to exist. In the early 1950's, the city leaders chose to be reimbursed for the city's land and moved.

The city was recently given the distinction as having the best-tasting water in the state. This title was awarded at a Missouri Rural Water Association seminar. Making this judgment were professionals from the Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The best-tasting water, two wonderful lakes to enjoy, a beautiful small town-what more could you want in a place to live?
