Marathon Makeover is pleased to announce The Renaissance at Colony Park, Ridgeland MS, Half Marathon. This 13.1 mile race will be open to the public and registration is NOW OPEN. Champion Chip timing, technical t-shirt, finisher's medal, race prizes, shopping spree giveaways, and much more!
Marathon Makeover is a 36-week, marathon-training, wellness program and, entering its fifth year helping ordinary people do the extraordinary - train for and finish the Chicago Marathon!
An anticipated 800 people are looking forward to a half marathon in Ridgeland, MS planned for June 28, 2008. Renaissance Run is a 13.1-mile race and it is open to the public. You don't have to run the race the course. Walkers are more welcomed. Participants will benefit from Champion Chip timing. All participants will receive a technical t-shirt and be included in drawings for prizes from retailers in the Renaissance at Colony Park located in family oriented Ridgeland, MS. Those who complete the 13.1 miles will receive a finisher's medal and prize money will go to the 1st through 3rd place finalists. Race registration is need by June 15. There will be a total of $5,250 (minimum) in prize money for the top three overall male and female finishers, Masters, (40+ runners) and Grand Masters (50+ runners). The Prize money will be equal in all categories.
There will also be a Gattitown one mile kid's fun run open to children ages 5 to 13. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher's medal.
Marathon Makeover, Ridgeland, MS is training over 450 Mississippians to participate in the Chicago Marathon and other marathons. You have to be 21 to participate in Marathon Makeover.
The Cost
Participants fall into one of three categories: Beginners, Alumni and Associates.
Beginners: For those who are training for the first time with Marathon Makeover the cost is $360 for our 36-week program. In addition to fully staffed and supplied training runs for 36-weeks, marathoners will receive a starter kit that includes: sport duffel bag, running team T-shirt, racing jersey, water bottle, participants guide, work-out/stretching videos and much more. Marathon Makeover will also negotiate discounted travel rates for your Chicago trip and will serve as tour leader at the Marathon
Alumni: For those returning for a second year, the cost of participation is $260. Alumni will receive all the benefits of first year participants. Special longer-distance, group runs will be available starting from the start of the program.
Associates: For those who have participated two or more years the cost is $160. Marathoners will receive all the benefits of first year participants. Special longer-distance, group runs will be available starting from the start of the program.

Recreation and Parks, Ridgeland MS
Ridgeland, MS Recreation and Parks Department is among the city's busiest and most vital. Freedom Ridge Park, a fifty-acre athletic facility, is located on School Street, Ridgeland MS just behind the Ridgeland Police Department. The park features four lighted adult regulation softball fields, four lighted regulation soccer fields, four picnic pavilions, two playgrounds, two concession/restroom buildings, a lighted walking trail, and a maintenance facility.
FRIENDSHIP PARK

Friendship Park is a multi-purpose neighborhood park facility located on Lake Harbour Dr. in Ridgeland, MS. So you’re invited to a picnic under the stars while celebratinthe history of blues.
May 10th is the date, 6 – 10 pm is the time. Reserved seating is available and a picnic for those who would like to help with the event. There are several levels of sponsorship. As a sponsor, your company’s name will appear in all promotions.
