Senatobia MS Neighborhood Parks
by Pam Simpson
The Kudzu Vine
In addition to the wonderful state parks in Northwest MS like Arkabutla, Sardis (a/k/a John Kyle) and Enid, we also have some great neighborhood parks. Senatobia MS in Tate County is no exception. The town may be small, but there are 3 city parks.

Gabbert Park is located right behind the library and is the site of the annual Tate County Relay for Life. There is a replica of the railroad depot which is used as a bandstand during park events. There is a paved walking trail, multiple benches and lots of shade trees.

Norfleet Park on Norfleet Drive has been around for a while. It is the only Senatobia MS park with playground equipment. It also has a paved walking trail which is used quite regularly by residents on their lunch break or after dinner.

The other park is near the railroad tracks beside Park Street. I honestly dont' know if this park has a name. I think it is called City Park. The Master Gardener association made this park a project a couple of years ago and now it is frequented by those looking for a nice, quiet place for lunch or just to "sit a spell".

If you visit any one of these parks on a weekday around lunchtime, you are bound to see lots of residents enjoying their lunch, getting a little exercise or just a break from the office walls.

Senatobia MS Wedding Chapel In The Pines
by Pam Simpson
The Kudzu Vine
Just a short 30 minute drive down I-55 from Memphis, you will find a beautiful wedding chapel tucked away in a pine grove in Senatobia MS.
Chapel In The Pines opened in 2001 and can accomodate small indoor weddings with their log cabin wedding chapel and outdoor weddings on in their wisteria-covered outdoor gazebo.
They can pretty much handle all your needs from the wedding announcements, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, flowers, music, pictures, and reception. They even have a minister.
My youngest stepson and his lovely bride were recently wed at Chapel In The Pines in May of 2009. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony with a unity candle lighting and dove release. They had a dessert reception and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Chapel in the Pines is located at 310 Gravel Springs Rd. in Senatobia MS. You can reach them for more information at (662) 562-9642.

Senatobia Presbyterian Church
by Pam Simpson
The Kudzu Vine
Senatobia Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Main Street and Highway 51 in Senatobia is a beautiful example of modified Gothic architecture. The present building (shown below) was dedicated on October 2, 1927.

The interior is graced with wonderful exposed beams in the ceiling and 3-panel stained glass windows.
Although the present building is only 82 years old, the Presbyterian Church in Senatobia was founded in 1848 and was originally located where the present day Bethesda Cemetery is now (further south on Hwy 51). It was originally called Bethesda Presbyterian Church. It was organized by the Rev. A.H. Caldwell who came by covered-wagon to Tate County, Mississippi from York County, South Carolina.
The Main Street Preservation Society recently chose Senatobia Presbyterian Church for an award relating to the new colonnade built at the west entrance. This new structure was designed to look as if it had always been there as part of the original structure.
Senatobia Presbyterian Church has a rich heritage in the local Tate County community and is known for reaching out to help those in need. If you find yourself in or around Senatobia, MS on a Sunday morning, stop by for the worship service. I know they would love to have you come visit them. Sunday morning service at 11:00 a.m.
