A little treasure tucked away in the mountains of Montana!

This is a wonderful week for me! I am spending it commuting from SPAR LAKE up high in the mountains outside of Troy , Montana. This alpine lake boast Mackinaw and big beautiful rainbow! Of which I have caught the largest between my husband and myself.. )we have little fishing derbies-- at first unspoken and know it is all out in the OPEN_--HAHA!)

The Troy Montana area is about 18 miles from Libby Mt. The real estate is very similar -- mountains - great view of snow capped peaks-- but smaller.. Smaller than great big ole Libby Mt with its 2800 people? Yes-- We are looking at a little town of about 900. Great and friendly- where people know people.

SPAR Lake Troy Montana! This is a special high mountain lake that often one has to hike in order to enjoy such a lake!

But this Spar Lake can be accessed via vehicle.

A deep and cold water lake that boasts Mackinaw and cutthroat and rainbow. Scenic Mountain peaks can be seen on the south end of the lake.

If you want to hike there is Upper Spar Lake that has a trail and is smaller but just as beautiful.( about 4 miles of brush and steep climbing and you are in Grizzly country!

The lake has much to offer the public. Summer boating ,fishing, private cabins and homes,

2 public boat docks and a swimming area- thanks to the USFS. There is camping available also

in 2 small Forest Service camp grounds. One is called Bad Medicine and the other is Dorr Skills.

The Lake if accessed via Highway 2 from Troy Montana to Hiway 56 ( also known as Bull Lake Road).

There is also access from Highway 200 ( from Sandpoint Idaho or Thompson Falls Montana). Come explore and ENJOY!
