The Top 5 Places to Eat in Asheboro, NC

Waynette Hoover Araj: Real Estate Agent in Asheboro, NC

Asheboro is changing.

There are more choices than ever when it comes to satisfying your food cravings. We're not New York, but we've come a long way, baby.

When you're thinking about where to eat tonight, and you're looking for a change from the same old routine, consider the following Asheboro eateries:

1) Bistro 42

It was great in it's old location on Highway 42, but Luke Armitage and his crew have moved to 405-P East Dixie Drive in Asheboro and made it even better. The atmosphere is fun, but not rowdy. They've added a fabulous new pizza menu. I recommend the blackened beef tips appetizer....

2) Something Different

It's unexpectedly good food. Try the hot spinach dip and the steak. Sinan knows how to cook a steak.

3) The Flying Pig

It has changed downtown Asheboro forever. I love the corn salsa with a glass of wine. The pizza is wonderful, and the atmosphere is fun and light-hearted.

4) Timothy's

Located at The Mill in downtown Asheboro. It's the restaurant of choice for elegant dining in Randolph County.

5) Taste of Asia

It's Asian cuisine at it's best. The food is light and fresh and refreshingly different.

Come dine with us in Asheboro.

North Carolina Zoo

Going to the NC Zoo?

Park Hours:

March 29 – October: 9 AM – 5 PM

November – March: 9 AM – 4 PM

The NC Zoo is open year round except Christmas Day.

The 1st question you should ask yourself when you go to the NC Zoo is: Africa or North America? If you choose Africa, then you will be delighted by elephants, rhinos, gorillas and soon to be lemurs, but if you prefer North America, get ready to be dazzled by black bears, polar bears and the great American bison.

What strikes you first about the Asheboro attraction is its shear size. One of the best attractions in North Carolina, you can walk over 5 miles and spend 5 hours on the zoo grounds (wear smart shoes, not high heeled boots). There is even a shuttle between the North America and Africa sections of the park to ferry hungry, tired souls from one expanse to the other. No matter where you choose to start, one thing is for certain, you will see animals and plenty of them from tiny fuzzy ones, to large scaly ones to blue poisonous ones, to pink winged ones, to all the ones in between and for only $10. That’s right, $10. For the price of a day at the movies, you can walk around this expansive compound and see mother natures greatest beasts at one of North Carolina’s best attractions. Who knew the zoo was such a bargain!

The North Carolina Zoological Park is located about 1.5 hrs from Charlotte and 60 minutes South of Greensboro in Asheboro, NC.

In the event of severe weather, the Zoo’s operating hours may change. See the weather forecast for Asheboro, NC. To plan your Zoo visit, please check the Zoo’s homepage for updates or call 1-800-488-0444.

Bistro 42 - Asheboro, NC

Waynette Hoover Araj: Real Estate Agent in Asheboro, NC

I've been feeling a healthy kick coming on. Today I decided to forgo any deep-fried, bad-for-me foods. I decided to eat a salad.

Now, where in Asheboro can you get a fresh, delicious salad, made to order? Bistro 42. It's conveniently located in a quaint little spot at the Shoppes on 42.

So, before I came to my senses and changed my mind, I picked up the phone and called 336-625-3663. I think I spoke to the chef and owner himself, Luke Armitage. I said "I want a salad. A good salad. Now." (or something close to that). He said "Ok! What do you want on it?" Well, I asked for all the things that sounded good to me. You know - low-fat, healthy stuff. Bacon, bacon, and bacon. And, throw some baby spinach in there, tomatoes, kalamata olives, toasted sunflower seeds, and sliced boiled eggs. Blue cheese dressing to top it off.

Ok. I realize I didn't pick all low-fat, healthy choices. But it WAS a salad, ok? And baby, was it GOOD!

Bistro 42

Bistro 42 has a great menu, and a wonderful selection of wines. Luke Armitage is a fine chef. He has been a finalist in the fine dining and causal dining competitions in 2007,2008,2009,2010 and has placed third in Fine Dining 2007, and third in the causal dining in 2008 and finished fourth in 2009.
