One of my very favorite Asheville-based businesses is Sow True Seed. What makes me say this? I
love the idea that they are an "open-pollinated/non-hybrid vegetable, herb and flower seed company specializing in heirloom, certified organic. . ." seed company.
In addition, the mission of this company is to " to promote and foster community sustainability by helping to preserve our shared botanical heritage and seed a new era of sustainable culture and ecological wisdom."
Asheville resident Carol Koury, founded Sow True in 2009 to serve home gardeners, market growers and the seed saving community at large.Carol is committed to providing healthy alternatives to conventionally produced food. She and her team support local agriculture and education.
By 2010, Sow True Seed already had donated seeds to many local community gardens and other projects across the country, as well as to Haiti. In 2011, partnering with Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP) the company became the exclusive seed donor for their Growing Minds Farm to School Program, which provides primary schools in Western North Carolina with seeds for school gardens to teach children to grow their own food.
As a former schoolteacher and white-haired advocate of wellness I am excited to know that the SEED MONEY Program uses seeds for school fundraisers making candy sales outmoded and helping kids to grow a healthy awareness about where their food comes What is next? Sow True is offering a wide selection of ECO-grown and GMO-free seeds to YOU.

Home Buyers have expressed interest in Asheville’s Multi-Generational Living Neighborhoods.
What is down the road??
According to many experts, as the impact and demand of Baby Boomers affects the real estate market, the popularity of living quarters devoted to Multi-Generation Living will grow.
More and more families are choosing that cooperative environment and mutual benefits that arise for all members regardless of age.
Whether they belong to the “Sandwich Generations” or their parents’ age-group, or the “Boomerang Generation”
multi-generational families have the possibility of enjoying greater comfort and energy savings.
More on great potential in Part 2.

Oh Those Influential Home and Land Buying Women
Asheville Real Estate Journal- Influential Women Buyer
As we mentioned in Parts 1 and 2 of this series, women actively control the money in a majority of affluent households, even among a generation of women who left this to their husbands in the past... today, 80% of affluent boomer women control their family's day-to-day finances.” Here are some more interesting numbers:
BY THE NUMBERS…
Personally, I love working with Influential Women...especially those who are ready to walk the absolutely beautiful Asheville area Land with me...as they imagine sculpting their HealthyBuilt home into a green landscape....as you will see in the slideshow that follows I've entitled:
“The Ladies Are Out on the LAND Today!” (Asheville Style)
