Lochmere Subdivision is one of Cary's most popular neighborhoods, and a fave of ours too. We wrote about the pool, tennis and lifestyle in the Lochmere Subdivision before. We even introduced you to a charming coffee house just outside the entrance of Lochmere Subdivision called Java Jive.

The Crescent Commons Tree Preservation Project in Cary, NC

One of the many qualities the Town of Cary NC is well known for is the aesthetically pleasing landscape and structures.

Cary developers and land planners place a lot of emphasis on preserving natural elements and incorporating as many green spaces into planning as possible. There are many noteworthy projects going on in Cary NC with this focus.

One of the many that deserves attention is located at The Crescent Commons shopping center in Cary NC.

From what I've heard, there are some great plans for expansion at Crescent Commons Shopping center! We'll have to endure the construction part, but as they say a little inconvenience for a big improvement!

This shopping center is perfectly located near Wake Med hospital on the corner of Kildaire Farm Road and Crescent Commons Drive.

One of the many reasons people choose to relocate to our wonderful area is because of the excellent health facilities the Triangle offers ~ WakeMed is just one of them.

What I love about this particular project's pre-renovation phase is that to avoid any mis-communication or mishaps, there have been Tree Protection Areas established all throughout the parking lots.

I can't help but be proud when priority is being placed on saving these gorgeous trees over adding additional parking spaces!

The Crescent Commons in Cary NC is a gorgeously maintained shopping center filled with dozens of convenient basic services that serve as a hub for nearby Cary neighborhoods.

Communities such as the Lochmere Subdivision in Cary enjoy VERY close proximity adding just one more reason these desirable neighborhoods are so sought after.

About Lochmere

Lochmere has been an immensly popular subdivision in Cary for the last 20 years.  It's situated in a wooded setting with two lakes, walking trails, swimming, tennis, and golf club.  Starting with the original Lochmere section, the subdivisions popularity has grown to include Lochmere Highlands, Lochmere Village, and the prestigous Lochmere Birkhaven.

The majority of single family homes are in the $350,000 to $450,000 range, with lakefront estates running around the $1,000,000 point.  However, there are also condos and townhomes available under $200,000 to provide Lochmere living to a broad range of budgets.

Lochmere Golf Club is a semi-private club with an 18 hole course, practice facilities, and a pro shop.  Lochmere Golf Club runs programs for men, women, beginners, and youth, so it has something to offer all interested golfers in the community.

Location

Lochmere is located directly south of the heart of Cary off Kildaire Farm Road.  It's bounded by Tryon Road on the North, Holly Springs Road to the east, Penny Road to the south, and Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve to the west.  It's convenient to shopping at Crossroads and Waverly Place, has 3 or 4 nearby grocery stores, and plenty of restaurants nearby, from Rudino's Pizza and Grinders, to Danny's Barbeque, to Jack Astors. It's also close to US1 and I-40 making it easy to commute to anywhere in the Triangle

 

 

Things to do

There's a wealth of things to do near Lochmere, starting with Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve located right across the street.  Hemlock Bluffs offers nature education at the Stevens Nature Center year round, and there are miles of trails to walk with plenty of observation platforms.

Also nearby is the Koka Booth Amphitheater which runs events ranging from Shakespearian plays to classic rock concerts to hosting the Raleigh Symphony for a summer pops series.  The Amphitheater is located in Regency Park and also hosts a huge 4th of July celebration every summer.

Within 5 to 10 minutes you can also go to the movies, go ice skating, roller skating, bowling, and visit numerous Cary Parks.  If you open your drive up a bit you can spend an afternoon boating on Jordan Lake, enjoy the museums in downtown Raleigh, expand your education at one of the eight local colleges and universities, or attend a major sporting event at one of our three local ACC schools.  And for hockey fans Raleigh is home to the Carolina Hurricanes.

  

Trends

You can see from the graphs that Lochmere has held up relatively well through the recent economic turmoil.  The average price per square foot has come down somewhat from a year ago, but it was, quite surprisingly, near it's all time high.  Sales volume has remained flat over the last year at 15 single family sales per quarter.  This is well below the sales volume enjoyed during the heyday, but also quite resistant to the seasonal flucuation that most large neighborhoods typically undergo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cary NC Lochmere Golf Course Homes

Cary NC Lochmere golf course homes is the second largest golf community in Cary NC.  Lochmere was established in 1984, consisting of 414 homes, with an average lot size of .77, nestled between Lochmere Lake and Lochmere Golf Course.  Now do you see the attraction?

Lochmere is located in southern Cary NC just off Tryon Road and Kildaire Farm Road.  The homes vary from estate homes to town homes.  

Golf is a polular pastime in Cary because the weather permits year-round play.  Each High School has a men's and women's team that compete locally and across the state.  Athens High School uses Lochmere as it's home course.  Cary also host the SAS Senior PGA Championship Tournament each year at Prestonwood Country Club.  As a avid golfer it is truly a privledge to see the pros play!
