SouthPark, only 10 minutes from Uptown Charlotte, is one of NC's largest employment centers. As a matter of fact, SouthPark is the state's 4th largest employment center and is home to some of the best shopping, restaurants and fine homes in the Charlotte Metropolitan area. SouthPark remains one of Charlotte's most desired areas, primarily because of its live/work community and the short commute to Uptown. The commute is about as good as you can get without living in Uptown!
In 1970, a regional mall rose from the pasture that it once was and became home to prestigious department stores such as Crate and Barrel, Burberry, Nordstrom's, Coach, Louis Vutton and Tiffany’s…the list goes on and on. SouthPark is said to be Charlotte's favorite shopping mall with visitors coming from afar to visit this gorgeous, upscale mall. Charlotte NC's SouthPark is a defining element of Charlotte!
SouthPark
is also host to amazing restaurants, including Ruth's Chris
Steak House, Mortons, McCormick and Shmick, Maggiones and The Cheescake
Factory. Whatever your flavor and
style, it's sure to be found here in the SouthPark restaurants.
There are
even two SouthPark YMCA's: The Harris YMCA,
full of children’s activities, adults exercie and
team
sports programs. Harris "Y" is host to multiple summer camps,
after-school programs and an amazing workout facility, gym, water park
and soccer/baseball fields just filled with children!
The Express "Y,"
in Piedmont Row, is also a great place to catch a
work-out just before work, during lunch, or after work.
If you'd like to take a 'tour' of the SouthPark area, give us a call and we'll be glad to accomodate!

If you are considering moving to a new neighborhood, whether it's across the street or across the country, I recommend doing three things:
1. Use the Internet! You can find almost anything on the Internet....population demographics, crime rates, home sale trends, data on schools, satellite pictures of the area, the list is endless. The Internet is a great place to begin your research. For some tips and tricks on using the Internet to research a home or neighborhood, please visit our Real Estate & The Internet page.
2. Ask an agent. A good real estate agent knows the area. We drive around neighborhoods, we read the news, we talk to people. A good agent can tell you a lot about a neighborhood. You should know however, that real estate law prohibits us from discussing certain things. We can't tell you if a neighborhood is "good" or "bad". YOU have to decide that. We can't discuss racial, religious or economic status of a neighborhood. But we can point you to places to find answers and can provide you a lot of great info on potential neighborhoods. We just have to stick to facts, not opinions.
3. Drive around! We strongly encourage our clients to simply drive the neighborhoods they are interested in. (Obviously this may be impossible if you are relocating from a significant distance.) Try to drive the area at different times of day, during the week, and on weekends. Doing this can give you an excellent understanding of what an area is like. Sometimes nothing beats seeing the neighborhood in action...
If you do all three of these things, you find yourself a neighborhood expert in no time!

Would you enjoy the luxury of working and playing within minutes of each other? Would you enjoy a relatively short commute to your office rather than having to fight the Uptown traffic? These dreams can be your reality if you live in SouthPark, a mixed-use upscale community in South Charlotte. The SouthPark community is near the intersection of Sharon Road and Fairview Road about five miles from Uptown Charlotte.
SouthPark is a diverse mix of high-rise condos, town homes, and single-family homes. The housing choices are varied limited only by your budget. Homes range in price from the low $100s to over $6 million. The average home price in SouthPark in September 2008 was $481,749.80. The average home price in SouthPark in October 2008 was $435,910.80. Thus, home prices appear to be slightly coming down in SouthPark despite the upscale nature of the community. This may be indicative of the current state of the economy.
The SouthPark community is home to the largest shopping mall in Charlotte, the SouthPark Mall . The mall sits at the intersection of Sharon Road and Fairview Road. SouthPark Mall is home to such upscale department stores as Nordstrom's and Neiman Marcus. SouthPark Mall also includes several upscale dining options including Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant and The Cheesecake Factory. During the summer months, many SouthPark residents and Charlotte area residents enjoy the free concerts provided by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra on the grounds of the mall. These free Summer Pops concerts are a great way to meet your neighbors.
The SouthPark business district is the second-largest business district in North Carolina with an estimated 40,000 workers and approximately 5 million square feet of office space according to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. Major Charlotte companies like National Gypsum and Piedmont Natural Gas are headquartered in SouthPark. In addition, regional offices of national companies like Maersk and CSX are also in the SouthPark area. Working and living in the SouthPark community can be your reality.
These are only a few highlights of the SouthPark community. Do you want to hear more about the sights and sounds of the SouthPark area? We or your prospective neighbors would love to hear you. We can tell you why SouthPark is the place to be.
