I want to thank our Cherry Point Commissary and the Mess Hall for a lot of work and a great spread.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2008, Cherry Point Commissary was part of a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) wide Italian-American decorating/display contest. They took it a step further and fed a few hundred active duty and retired personnel and their families. The FREE lunch consisted of different "Bertoli" products as well as spaghetti, meat sauce, an alfredo sauce and garlic bread cooked up by Cpl Renesh Washington and Cpl Sean Davis and managed by Msgt Bobby Thomas. The commissary personnel directly responsible are Jazette Stewart (Grocery Manager), Phyllis Black (Store Director), Shirley Mitchel (Merchandiser) and Katie Thomas who is a representative of Sarvis/Unileaver who provided product.
Again, Thank you for showing your appreciation and the great lunch.

I was looking at some information I got from Cherry Point today and was amazed at the economic impact Cherry Point has on North Carolina.
According to the Command Analysis and Review Office documents Jan. 2008 the estimated fiscal year 2008 impact is a whopping $1,456,094,487 benefit to the NC economy.
An estimated 5,000 civilian employees work on base making it the areas largest employer.
The top five local contractors utilized by Cherry Point in fiscal 2007 recieved contracts totaling $22,997,555.00
Cherry Point contributes alot to our area that can't be express in dollars, I will discuss that in another post.
Thanks to our Marines..
Remember May is National Military Appreciation Month.
