4 ActiveRain Members Working Together = 1 Successful Transaction
How many ActiveRain members does it take to have one successful Closing? Well, unlike the old joke, it really only takes one--if you're good!
Otherwise, the more the merrier!
I recently had a buyer who had been preapproved by one of the "big banks" to purchase her new home. We located the PERFECT home for her at Lake Norman and found ourselves in a bidding war, which we won! That perfect home was listed by none other than fellow ActiveRain member, Don Anthony Gomez! Don and I have chatted by phone regarding listings we've had in the same neighborhoods and about listings of his that my buyers have viewed as well; we've commented on one anothers' posts and always knew that when we finally did have a cross-sale together, it would be a treat.

When my client was ready to proceed with her purchase, her lender failed to be responsive to our calls & emails for a GFE. I recommended a fellow ActiveRain member-lender, Nevin Williams to her (thank you again, Craig Rutman!). Nevin was the consummate professional, quickly providing a GFE, pre-approval and expediently moved forward with the loan process! My client loved him and he got the job done for us!
While Nevin was working on the loan, we were having our inspections made. We used Home Inspection Carolina, owned by Preston Sandlin, also a fellow-ActiveRain member! We had a professional inspector who answered my client's questions, provided a prompt report to us and returned before Closing to re-inspect the repairs.
The inspections went well, Don had his sellers make the repairs (and they went ABOVE and beyond!) and Nevin came through for us with the loan. As a matter of fact, Nevin even drove from Raleigh to attend the 8 a.m. Closing!
I spoke with my client this weekend--she loves her new home at Preston at The Lake and had wonderful things to say about her buying experience. Who knew we would all come together to get this transaction done? WE DID! The happy client is a direct result of 4 active ActiveRain members working together, which ultimately makes me a happy camper too!
Thanks guys for coming through for my buyer--you were all true professionals and an absolute pleasure to work with. I look forward to the next one with you all!

Lake Norman is an incredible place to live, particularly if you own a waterfront home or a boat. But, what if you want to go sailing or rowing on Lake Norman and you don't have a boat? Thanks to the generosity and passion of some local sailors and rowers, North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization working in partnership with Mecklenburg County and Cornelius Parks & Rec Departments, recently opened to the public offering sailing and rowing programs on Lake Norman for all ages and abilities.
What is great about this new Lake Norman sailing and rowing program is that the boats and equipment are provided by the center thanks to the generous donations of many Lake Norman area residents and businesses. All one needs to do is sign-up, pay a very reasonable fee for a season pass and you are on your way to learning how to sail and/or row. The center is conveniently located on Lake Norman at Blythe Landing in Cornelius.
Fall Lake Norman sailing and rowing programs are underway but it is not too late to join!

A friend of mine and I have started the rowing classes which are held on Saturday mornings. There are three classes depending on your age and experience: Masters, Adult Novice and Juniors. This photo was taken of the juniors out on the first day. The boats we are using hold 8 rowers but they also have sculls for different sizes. Learning the technical skills to row successfully as an 8-person team is challenging but really really fun!
Because NC Community Sailing and Rowing is a fledgling non-profit they are looking for financial donations as well as more boats and equipment so that they can offer a full schedule of classes on Lake Norman in the Spring.
Learn more, make a donation or sign up!
