When people think of the Blue Ridge Mountains they connect with a time
when Daniel Boone roamed the wide open expanse in search of game while befriending a Native American upon occasion. The Blue Ridge Mountains are about getting away from the highly urbanized, technologically advanced lifestyles that most lead on a daily basis and communing with nature. The 469 mile Blue Ridge Parkway forms a back bone for those in search of a personal relationship with the mountains. For those that end up falling in love with the aesthetic beauty of this region, the process begins to find the perfectly rustic get-a-way. A Blue Ridge Log Cabin, or cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains, is the perfect retreat most are looking for. The rustic natural features of a log cabin blend perfectly with the mountain back drop.
The question soon becomes, where do we find what we are looking for. I have travelled the Parkway top to bottom multiple times and been a long time resident of the NC mountains and will be the first to tell you that the perfect Blue Ridge Log Cabin is not as easy to come by as most would think. The mountain region consists of 3 main corridors in my opinion: 1) Highlands/Cashiers 2) Asheville region 3) Boone/Blowing Rock. In my opinion, areas 2) and 3) are the most accessible. In my opinion, area 1) is still overpriced. For those that have to have Asheville and the amenities associated with Asheville, then you should go to the Asheville area. For me, the Boone and Blowing Rock area defines the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here you will find quaint Mountain towns, parks and parkway, outdoor recreation and some of the best log cabin communities in Appalacia.
Abutting the Pisgah National Forest and sitting at the confluence of Johns River and Wilson's Creek, is a development called The Coves at Round Mountain. They seem to be succeeding where others have failed. If you're looking for the best Blue Ridge Log Cabin it's worth giving them a look.

Best North Carolina Mountain Properties - The Coves at Round Mountain
If you are looking for the best North Carolina Mountain Properties, you have to visit The Coves at Round Mountain. Have you ever heard of Wilson Creek Gorge in the North Carolina
Mountains? I am an avid traveler and fan of the NC mountains and I had
not until recently. In my opinion, it has to be one of the most
undiscovered, hidden treasures in the United States. A crystal clear
river originates up around Grandfather Mountain and cascades down a
stone gorge through the Pisgah national forest. The best place to
access the gorge is off of highway 321 South of Blowing Rock, North
Carolina.
Like all of the Best NC Mountain Properties, The Coves at Round Mountain has areas for camping, hiking, horseback riding and
swimming during the summer months. The lodging is not great in the area
but it is a short drive down the mountain from Blowing Rock. It is
perfect for a day trip from other areas of the Carolina's as it is
extremely accessible without driving for hours through the mountains.
Like all of the best NC Mountain Properties, The Coves at Round Mountain provides endless fun for the outdoor lover regardless of the season.
There is a small town right up the road named Colletsville. It appears
to be completely undiscovered and in my opinion will be the next highly
regarded mountain town in NC once it gets discovered. There is a large
real estate development in the area that is one of the nicest I have
seen. The Coves at Round Mountain's entrance is walking distance from
Colletsville, minutes from the Wilson Creek Gorge and has about 5 miles
of frontage on the Johns River. The views from this property were
unbelievable. The prices were surprisingly low compared to everything
else we looked at on our trip. The area and the development are not well
known but I bet they will be in the next couple years. There is nothing that compares to the beauty of The Coves at Round Mountain, and in my opinion is one of the best North Carolina Mountain Properties.
