Owned and operated by the Dixon family, Jeri, Don and Brett, Kites Unlimited & BirdStuff etc. has something for everyone. While talking with Don, he couldn't stress enough that their main goal is "Family Fun". Believe me, family fun will never be a problem in their colorful and unique store. As Don puts it, they have been in business since the Dinosaurs roamed...In numerical terms, that is 25 years.


On one side of the shop, The shelves are fully stocked with an unbelievable assortment of items: jigsaw puzzles, children's educational toys, board games, decorative items, ornaments...Not to mention the kites, flags and feathers than line every inch of the walls and ceiling. If you venture to the other side, you'll find bird houses, bird feeders, bird seed and supplies, more kites and flags, outdoor and garden decor and supplies, Tilley Hats, hanging chairs and hammocks, and probably the largest selection of garden gnomes on the Crystal Coast.

As a REALTOR®, I can always find the perfect closing gift at Kites Unlimited & Birdstuff, etc, because they really do have something for everyone! Christmas and birthdays are not a problem as you can find a gift for everyone on your list. Chances are, you will find a thing or two for yourself too! Every year in October (sorry, you missed it for 2009), Kites Unlimited presents the annual Carolina Kite Fest. Mark your calendars now for October 23rd and 24th, 2010 for the 23rd annual Kite Fest. The festival takes place at Sheraton Atlantic Beach. It is a great weekend filled with fun. Events include all types of Colorful Kites from around the world, Candy drops for the children, Games, sled kite building for the kids, and much more. Tassels in Morehead City, North Carolina opened their doors ten years ago and is owned and operated by Iva Fearing. Iva is from Newport and attended West Carteret High School and Carteret Community College here on the East Coast of North Carolina...Making her a true local to our community (most of us are considered from "Off").

Williams Hardware in Morehead City, North Carolina opened their doors more than 30 years ago. They have an excellent reputation throughout the community and offer expert advise to help you with any project you may be trying your hand at. They carry just about anything you could ever need from a hardware store and then some. If they don't have it, they can get it or tell you where to find it.

From Boating gear to landscaping & gardening supplies, they've got it. If you need to build a fence, they've got what you need. They will even give you instruction if needed. Williams Hardware may be the only place in Morehead City, where you can buy "one" nail. Why would they make you buy a whole box if you only need just one!? If you need to have a key made...no problem. I had a key made at a "Big Chain" store one day because it was convenient and later when I tried the key...it wouldn't work. Instead of driving across town to get it fixed, I stopped by Williams to have another made. He took the key that the "Big Chain" store had cut and buffed it down for me. When I tried to pay him, he said, "No charge today, just remember to come here first next time"! I have never had a key made anywhere else since (and as a REALTOR®, I need a lot of keys).

If you are planning that perfect camping trip with the family...stop by Williams Hardware, where you'll find everything you need. Getting ready to host a neighborhood Bar-B-Q? You will find the best grills and accessories available at Williams (you'll have to go next door to the grocery store to get the steaks tho'). I was at Williams Hardware just this morning, and before I could even get out of my car, I was greeted with a friendly, "Good Morning" from W.R. Beasley of Williams Hardware. The summer sunsets reflect off the waters of the sound in Emerald Isle NC, but as fall comes they move southwestward towards the ocean. This shot is about midway through that southwestern migration.

Your Subconscious Mind is DEAF so stop talking to it and... feed it some pictures, mind pictures or images that is.

I've heard and read for years that your subconscious mind does not "hear" negatives, but yesterday I was listening to The Success Principals by Jack Canfield and he went on to explain that the subconscious mind does not "hear" the negative because the subconscious mind deals only in images.

This was a revelation to me. I have intellectually understood the concept of the universe not hearing a negative such as I don't want to go to the meeting or I don't want to eat breakfast and the universe hearing I want to go to the meeting or I want to eat breakfast. Well it's more than that. Your subconscious doesn't HEAR so what it gets from our words is the image those words evoke and guess what - when we use negatives it recieves an image of .... you guessed it ... an image of what you don't want.

Yesterday this came home to me on a new level. It was an A-HA moment for me.

Our subconscious mind is our helper. It will go to work to help us create the images we send to it. It does NOT judge that image. It does not ask WHY we want that image. It does not ask us if we are sure that is the image what we want. It gets an image and goes to work seeking to find and bring into your experience anything and everything to HELP us create the IMAGE -- NOT the reverse of the image.

The more we repeatedly send the same image the more time and effort it puts into finding people places and things to show up in our life to help us achieve this image. Add emotion to this repeated image and violá it starts appearing faster. The rub is we unconsciously put a lot of emotion into things we don't want expecting them to change.

Just think about how often we use our mind images in a way we don't intend.

• Stop playing with you food - creates an image of - playing with your food.
• Don't slam the door - creates an image of - slamming the door
• I don't want to buy a red car - creates an image of - buying a red car
• I don't like it when you're late - creates an image of - seeing the person arrive late
• I don't want a Pepsi - creates an image of - a Pepsi
• I'm afraid to fly - creates an image of - being afraid of flying
• Don't you dare leave this house - creates an image of - leaving this house
• This is a terrible market - creates an image of - a terrible market

Now we can start using our words to create images instead to get what we intend. If we send a differnent message we will get a different image and get a different result.

• Enjoy your breafast.
• Close the door gently on your way out
• I see myself driving a blue car
• It makes me smile when you arrive timely
• I could really enjoy a Coke
• I truly delight in flying
• I find joy in having you around the house
• The market is improving and I see signs of it every day

Which mind images are you sending to your subconscious? Are they the images you are intending to create in your life?

Either way your HELPER is working night and day to bring you EXACTLY the image you are sending to it.
