Spring is peaking its pretty head in Franklin, NC but I don't think winter is over.
I think we have all had a rough winter this year but does Mother Nature agree? Lots of snow and cold days here this 2010/2011 winter in Franklin, NC. The worst one in the 18 years I have lived here. Yesterday was a bit cloudy but the warmer breeze made it a good day and 64 degrees feels good to me. A good day compared to a few feet of snow or the wind blowing with 20 degree temperatures.

I don't know if this means anything but I see more squirrel's running about and the deer have moved to a different location because hunting season is over. Daffodil's are popping up their green bunches in sunny areas and the ground is not frozen anymore. Makes me want to go work out in the yard and plant flowers. I know better after the first year of living here not to plant flower til the end of April.
I have learned over the years here that we always get a little taste of spring and then well, winter is back for a week or two and then a few days here and there of cold. I wonder if we will get a Blackberry Winter, a Redbud Winter or a Dogwood Winter? My wishes are for a Blackberry Winter!
Spring is one of my favorite seasons, very beautiful and a sign of new life. It is going to be very welcomed at my house in Franklin, NC.

Selling homes in Franklin, NC Yes, I am selling homes and land in Franklin, NC!
There are some awesome deals on homes and land in Franklin, NC and they certainly DO NOT HAVE TO BE A FORECLOSURE TO BE A GOOD DEAL! We do have those too but Banks are not messing around when they get an offer.
I think the REAL sellers are realizing that they have to come down to where the market really is to sell and they are doing it. If you are not serious then don't waste your time or a agent time listing. Let me take that back, a
good agent can't afford to waste their time and money on a over priced property if you are not willing to price it right from the start. It does not matter what you paid for it or the improvements you have done. What matters is, what is it worth TODAY?
Everyone knows the first few months of a listing if VERY IMPORTANT. The best thing to do is to price it right from the start and you will not have to hear "Well Mr. & Mrs. Seller I told you it was too high and now we have to lower the price". Should you have been priced right from the start a buyer may have been looking at it in that price range but if you were not they never even seen it and bought something else.
And for cripes sake if you get a cash offer that is close to what you are asking take it and RUN. Add up what you will be paying out for another year if you had to keep it on the market in hopes to get that last 5 thousand dollars? Is it really worth it?
Wouldn't you rather get on with the next phase of your life?

Hello, I want to buy a house down Hwy.441 South can you help me? Sorry my taxi day's are over!
Mr. Buyer called the office Thursday morning and asked me to help him buy a home down Hwy.441 South in Franklin, NC. He said he was sick of driving over Cowee mountain everyday to work. Mr. Buyer tells me Fruit of the Loom is opening back up and he is helping them to get ready to do so.
Of course I am going to help him. I would LOVE to help him and his family relocate. He wanted me to go show him houses today, there are many to choose from and he has a few he picked right out of the book. He said he don't know what his comfort level with a mortgage is yet but he is ready to look at homes.
Now, it all sounded really good on the phone and the poor guy really was sincere. Then my questions made him fumble. I asked him what bank would he like to get qualified at? Silence ~ Who do you bank with? Suntrust he say's. Great, I will have someone call you to set up an appointment to get some information from you they are going to need.
I had a feeling and but I do not discriminate and still did my job. I did get a call from the guy I work with that bank. It's a no go June, the guy not only had dings on his credit but he only had one score. No even a prayer anytime in the near future for him.
When I was a NEW agent I would have set up appointments on all the houses he found in the book he thought he was wanting to see. Spent hours hunting the area for that perfect house for him and his family to move into. I would have needlessly interrupted numerous agents & their clients. It really would have wasted this guy's time too along with mine and his family could have fallen in love with a home they can not buy. At least now he knows he will have to set a goal and priorities if he ever wants to own a home.
My taxi days have long gone but maybe he will remember me if he ever does become eligible to buy a home near Hwy.441 South in Franklin, NC!

Some say its not needed - Macon County Hospice Proposal was held November 18th, 2010
Many Local residents in Macon County Franklin, NC showed up for the Macon County Hospice Proposal at the Macon County Public Library on Siler Farm Road Thursday morning only to be left waiting on Lisa Pittman, Project Analyst for the State of NC. Standing room only is what I found when I arrived at 8:45. The meeting did get under way at 9:30am.
The purpose of this meeting was for a Certificate of Need Section. Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. and Hospice of Henderson County, Inc. d/b/a Four Seasons Compassion for Life is seeking to develop a six-bed hospice inpatient facility in Macon County.
First up was the Applicants and then we had Public comments in rotation of Opposed & Support. The only people against this proposal were hospitals and assistant living facilities. Oh and one lady who said she wouldn't want to travel over the mountain. Can you guess why they DO NOT want a Hospice House here? It will hurt their business and they said its not needed at this time.
I just can't believe someone or some business not wanting to help anyone at their time of need when their journey with life is about to end.
I cried a few times when some people were telling their story of why it is a WONDERFUL and Much needed project. I did have to leave after about two hours and did not get a chance to speak. I know they were pre-picked for speaker it was very obvious to me. Hospitals are for getting better and Assisted Living is for those who are Living. Hospice House is for those who's life is about to end.
I am praying to GOD we do get a Hospice House in Macon County Franklin, NC.

The home of the Macon County Historical Museum is the 100 year old commercial store building built by the Rev. Jesse R. Pendergrass on Main Street in 1904, and was immediately considered the finest commercial building in Macon County. Over the next seventy years, the store was a hub for the community. The many items offered for sale in the store included grocery staples, dry goods, notions, school supplies, and other necessities of everyday life in early 20th century Macon County. The store was also a community gathering place, with lively checker games ongoing daily on the street outside in the summer and by the wood stove in the winter. It also served as a wedding parlor for many of the couples who were married by the Rev. Pendergrass. The top floor of the building served as the living quarters for the Pendergrass family.
