Greensboro, NC is hosting an Andy Warhol exhibit from now until September 19. "Big Shots: Andy Warhol Polaroids," will be featured at Weatherspoon Art Museum, which is located at Spring Garden and Tate Streets on the campus of University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
The show is in the large upstairs gallery. Handy guides with details on each group of photos are available just inside the door. This show features approximately 300 Polaroid pictures and 70 gelatin silver black-and-white prints. There are large prints of Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor. The Polaroids feature some famous people, such as Mick Jagger, Bianca Jagger and Farrah Fawcett. There are also Polaroids of some not-so-famous people, many of whom were Warhol's personal friends. The Weatherspoon was able to score such a large collection of Andy Warhol's art by cooperating with the Nasher Museum at Duke University and the Ackland Art Museum at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The Weatherspoon is open Tuesdays 10:00-5:00, Wednesday 10:00-5:00, Thursday 1:00-9:00, Friday 10:00-5:00 and Saturday 1:00-5:00 and Sunday 1:00-5:00. Admission is free but donations are encouraged. There are also special documentaries about Andy Warhol being shown during the exhibition.
