The Kingsbridge on Queens Creek HOA held its second annual Block Party on Saturday. I don't live in this Hubert NC subdivision but I had the privilege of selling homes to some of the families and they invited me to their party.

Good food, fellowship with neighbors and entertainment for the kids!

If you are relocating to Camp LeJeune, New River Air Station or the Naval Hospital at Camp LeJeune, you will want to take a look at this community of friendly and caring people. It's a wonderful place to live and raise a family and it is a very short drive (about 12 minutes) to the back gate of Camp LeJeune Marine Base. In addition the schools, shopping and restaurants are only about 10 minutes from the neighborhood.

I received an email from Zillow this week saying a Consumer had posted a question on one of my listing. Here is the question the reader asked:
"We just wondered if they were in grave need to sell this and if they would accept the zestimate"
The listed asking price for this house is $299,500. Zillow's zestimate is $204,000 to $211,00!
Where do they get their comparables for my area? I've done my homework (CMA) and have the figures to support the listing price.
Is there some wiggle room? Of course there is..... but not $95,000!
House prices have fallen in Onslow County, North Carolina like they have all over the country but not that much.
Back to the question the Consumer asked? Go back and read it again.....could it be that Consumers do understand that Zillow's Zestimates are not always realistic?
Perhaps the Consumer is more savy than we give them credit for.
Take heart fellow Blogger, perhaps our efforts at educating Consumers is not falling on deaf ears after all.
Keep up the good work!

I am so fortunate that many of my clients become friends and neighbors. A couple, whom I sold a house to about a year ago, invited my daughter and me to their New Year's Day Brunch and Polar Plunge.
The invitation read "bring a salad or dessert and your swim suit".
January 1st 2008 was a marvelous Eastern North Carolina day in Hubert, N C with the temperature very much above our average normal January high of 54. Even so, I knew the water would be too cold for me to go in.
We arrived around noon to find lots of familiar faces, neighbors and good food.

Much of the conversation was about the unseasonal warm weather and the upcoming dip in the pool. My 3 1/2 year old kept saying she wanted to go swimming to which I replied that the water was too cold and we didn't bring our swim suits. She was not convinced.
At the appointed time, fireworks that sounded like a siren were set off and the "polar bears" dived in. They swam the length of the pool, climbed out, quickly wrapped their cold bodies in large towels and announced that the water was freezing cold.
My little one still was not convinced and continued to beg to go in. Someone suggested that I take off her shoes and let her dip a foot in thinking that would take care of the issue. Ok, why not? So, we removed the shoes and socks, she put a foot in the water, looked up at me and said "It's not cold, I want to get in".
What's a Mother to do? I stripped her down to her shirt and panties and said "go in". She walked to the edge of the pool, down the steps into the pool until the water was above her waist and stood there shivering. I insisted she come out and turned around to get a towel to wrap her in. When I turned back around.... lo and behold she was back in the pool.
I finally got her out, dried off, wrapped up and she was still insisting that she wanted to swim some more.
Was this really my child? This tough, little girl. Yes, I love the water but only when it reaches about 85 degrees! It appears I have a little polar bear.
