25th Annual NC Seafood Festival

Mark your calendars and plan on being in Morehead City, NC for the 25th Annual NC Seafood Festival, September 30 - October 2, 2011!

Every year, Downtown Morehead City hosts one of the Greatest Festivals EVER! More than 150,000 folks head to the Morehead City Waterfront to enjoy the many activities available.

Yes, a person could go crazy with all the wonderful seafood available, but the rides, the music, the vendors, Fireworks, boat shows, Sailing Regatta, Flounder Fling, games ...FABULOUS! There is also an Open Air Seafood Market available.... If you are coming from out of town, Bring your Coolers and Stock up on "Carteret Catch"!

You will not want to miss the Southern Outer Banks Boat Show and Outdoor Expo while here. The show takes place at the N.C. Port Authority in Morhead City, NC on Saturday & Sunday, October 2-3, 2011... Admission is Free.

On Sunday, Oct. 3rd, at 10:00 am, the Blessing of the Fleet takes place at the N.C. Port. Commercial Fisherman provide us with Fresh seafood and shellfish on a local, state and national level. At the Blessing of the Fleet, they will offer tribute to the men and women who risk their lives to provide "Carteret Catch", and I must warn you, it can be an emotional time here on the coast.

Throughout the weekend, you will enjoy the FOOD! Every type of seafood you can imagine, along with Funnel Cake, Ice Cream, Burgers, Good ol' Carolina Bar-b-q, Funnel Cake, and just about anything you would expect to find at the Greatest Festival on the NC Coast! There are beer tents for the big kids, game tents for the little kids, and their truly is Fun for the Whole Family at the NC Seafood Festival. TAKE It!

I have, and I am a happier person because of it.

Just before departure, this was the sunrise I witnessed from the Milwaukee airport window (hence the streak marks in the glass). What a glorious way to begin my trip to North Carolina, to meet several Active Rainers. My heart was touched right from the start of it! And it only got better with each and every passing moment, and each and every Active Rainer I met!

As the plane approached Raleigh North Carolina, I was overcome with the pure lushness of the area. Waterways and Green were everywhere. What an amazing area of the country Raleigh North Carolina truly is. It brought back wonderful memories of living in Tennessee.

As soon as I got off the plane, I sent a text to Amy Hahn so I knew where to meet her. Filled with complete giddiness I walked through the airport to the escalator! There at the bottom of the escalator was the beautiful smiling face of Amy Hahn, Realtor Extraordinaire, from the Crystal Coast!

At first glance all I saw was that smiling face.

It took me a moment to notice something else about her,.....

she was wearing something special!

Something coveted here in the Rain.

Something of honor,.....

it was none other than,....

Yes, Amy Hahn actually picked me up walking through the airport wearing the "Craig Rutman Lucky sweater"! (Well sort of anyhow.) Too funny! I was already giddy just being there and this is how my trip was beginning! Can it get any better?

We get out to her car and what do I see?

A cute little bag on the seat for me.

I read the card;

I gasped!

What was in the bag?

NO WAY!

It was nothing less than my very own "Craig Rutman Lucky Sweater!" Okay, that was it! I may as well die right then and their, as my life is now complete! (hee hee hee) Okay, it wasn't the original (only Craig has that), but Amy actually found t-shirts for each and every one of us that had that clown face on it! Can you believe it? What an amazing person Amy Hahn is!

On the way to the Crystal Coast, North Carolina, the both of us talked a mile a minute (yes, hard to believe, I know)! It was as if we had known each other our whole lives! Amy Hahn and her family were a riot! Her son, the Tan man, the future president, is adorable and quite brilliant. Her husband Roger is absolutely hilarious!

And that my friends, was just the beginning of my trip to the Crystal Coast, North Carolina!

So, if you get a chance to get together with an Active Rainer or two, take it! Each and every moment, each and every member I have met in person from Active Rain,

far surpassed my expectations!
