Feeding the needy

A month or so ago, I told you about Angel Food ministries (http://www.Angelfoodministries.com) which is a food source for folks in need.

Last month I place an order to check out the food to see what is expected. I picked up that order today and started distributing it to those folks that I know can use it.

It seems to be a good quality of fook items. I picked up Chicken breast, pork chop centers, new york strips, lettuce, sweet potatoes, beans and corn (frozen) milk ( that can be kept on a shelf) and canned beans.

It looks ok. I know that folks are grateful, during this economic time, to benefit from this program.

Share it with other that you know are needing some help.

I just love Fridays. It is the day that I look forward to all week.

With great anticipation, I think of great things that we can do to fill the weekend with fun and build memories.

Tomorrow I think we will hit the road to see Jimmy's mom who is 92 and doing very well. She lives about 3 hours away and we try to visit with her every few weeks..

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Today is Sunday and we took 4 of our grandchildren to Church.

Katleen 16, Clay 13, Joshua 3 and Marissa 1...

These Children are so very special to us..

After church, we came home and had a Sunday Dinner that consisted of BBQ Ribs, egg plant and Onions, Butternut Squash, fresh tomatoes and banana peppers, Potatoes and toasted buttered rolls. For dessert we had peach cobbler.

After resting for a bit, we went to the Ocean and played in the surf for a couple of hours.

Nice and relaxing day with the Children.

Day for building memories

Mega Man on Oak Island NC

Ginger Harper: Real Estate Agent in Southport, NC

It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's Mega Man! Many children (both boys and girls) dream of becoming superheros when they grow up. They look up to figures such as Batman, Spiderman, and even Elastigirl from "The Incredibles," but my grandson, age 13, achieved his dream today by becoming Mega Man for an hour on Oak Island.

My grandson has always been imaginative. Even since the age of three, we've known that whatever he put his mind to, he could do. Well, ten years later, he's decided to become a superhero. Clay's always been an entertainer. He used to put on shows in front of a camera and everyone else. He loves to make people laugh and he truly has a heart of gold. He's also known for being quite crazy. Although not as fearlessly fun-loving as his older sister, Clay will pretty much do anything after a little convincing.

Clay spent the day at the beach with his sister and a couple friends. While there, he tied the towel around his neck and jumped around on the sand. After a little support, he decided to run up and down the beach screaming, "I am Mega Man!" He did so, making everyone around him laugh his/her butt off. I can just imagine what it must have looked like. There was a group of about thirty or fourty college kids having a good time on the beach. After seeing Mega Man, they decided they'd have fun also. They called over to Clay, and after catching his breath from his previous run, he ran towards the large group again shouting, "I am Mega Man!" This time, he also added a, "Is there a damsel in distress worth saving anywhere?" As soon as he said this, agirl ran up to him and jumped in his arms. He ran with her, carrying her to safety. He rested again and then ventured back into the peril to save another damsel. This time, a large guy with big muscles ran to him and tried to be saved. However, instead of catching the large damsel, Mega Man dropped him.

My granddaughter told me this story after they got back from the shore. She had seen everything, taking pictures and videos and talking with Clay to convince him to go back to his "fans." The entire time, she and her brother were laughing, making me laugh with them. There is something so comforting, so joy-inspiring in children's (even if they are teenagers) laughter, especially when they are laughing with one another about a wonderful event they both enjoyed.
