Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw renovated the famous Pinehurst No. 2 golf course to the original look intended by Donald Ross.
Just opened this past March the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course is buzzing with news about the new "old" look and tee times are booked weeks if not months in advance. The golf course was renovated to look like it was intended by the original designer Donald Ross. Donald Ross created over 400 golf courses and made Pinehurst his home.
On this day in April a good friend of mine who is a member of the Pinehurst Country Club kindly took off the second nine holes of her Sunday golf game to drive me around the Pinehurst's famous No. 2 course as well as the premium course No. 4. The transformation is amazing and it is hard to believe the changes.
There is no longer any Bermuda rough on the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course, and it has been replaced with sandy areas with over a 100,000 new wire grass plants. The grass around the sand bunkers has been roughed up and gives the areas around the greens a more natural look than the groomed look it had before the renovation.
There is a lot of buzz around the new "old" look of the Pinehurst No. golf course renovation - and if you don't have the time to visit Pinehurst, you will be able to see it during the 2014 US Open.

Not just for golfers - Pinehurst tennis team clinched the area league yesterday and now will go to the state championships.
As captain I am very pleased that we have clinched the Pinehurst area league tennis for 4.0 Seniors. As most know - Pinehurst is well known for its many golf courses. But there are also many other outdoor sports and activities and Pinehurst has many tennis teams at all different levels.
Our senior tennis team will go t the State Championships in early June, and if the adult 4.0 team wins the league, which is quite possible, then this team will be represented in the adult championships which is held every year in Pinehurst.
Golfers are always welcome in Pinehurst - and there is also a great tennis community including the many beautiful clay tennis courts at the Pinehurst resort as well as Legacy Lakes just minutes away.

I don't know too many homeowners in the Pinehurst Area that don't love watching the birds and love having feeders and bird houses to attract their favorite variety. There is such a variety of birds in the Pinehurst area that it becomes the hobby of many to watch and feed the different species in our area. I know many people that have feeders to attract specific birds and houses for certain varieties to nest in. I am more of a generic bird watcher and just enjoy seeing all the different species, specifically the cardinal and the yellow finch. The two yellow finch in this photo were taken while I was showing a house in Pinehurst. I couldn't get too close or I would scare them a way. So I'm sorry for the little bit of blurriness. The buyer I brought to this home ended up purchasing the house and this bird feeder has moved away now with the previous owner to his new home. If you live in Pinehurst or plan on relocating here you will enjoy watching the variety of birds and if you already don't - you will most likely pick up the hobby of watching and feeding the birds along with most Pinehurst area residents.
