There's been so much going on in and around Raleigh lately that it's been almost impossible to keep up with it all. Well last week-end as Lee and I headed downtown to check out Raleigh Winterfest (which started on Saturday) we also found something else happening at the Raleigh Convention center ~ well actually two things...

One was A Carolina Christmas arts and craft show, and the other was the first annual Raleigh Art Expo bringing top African-American artists to the Triangle. We'll certainly be bringing more info on this venue next year!

From the Raleigh Convention Center we headed to Boylan Heights. An inside the beltline neighborhood for the 18th annual Boylan Heights ArtWalk..

It was packed with people of all ages walking the streets! Even the cold didn't keep this event from hitting the success level...

With over 100 artists displaying their works on the porches, lawn, and homes of these terrific historic homes it's no wonder everyone had such a terrific time.

There were photographers, potters, and artists with lovely artwork as well as jewelers, hand painted silk, whimsical mosaics and lawn ornaments. Some of the artists were local and it was fun getting to meet them.

There was even a concession stand offering up hot soup, chili, burgers and dogs... and of course hot chocolate!

I think the most fun was the free carriage rides. A horse drawn carriage that offered it's passengers a round trip ride down to the historic Rosengarten Park Neighborhood on the eastern edge of Boylan Heights for a free historic home tour.

All this is organized and brought to us each year by the Boylan Heights neighbors who volunteer their time to set the stage for some holiday cheer!
