One of the hardest hit real estate markets around the country was and is the condo market. Jeremy Salemson, CEO of Corporate Investors Mortgage Group reported on WRAL's Today in Real Estate that the sales for the downtown Raleigh condo market have recently "skyrocketed" year over year! Indicating that "not only the real estate purchase appetite is returning, but an appetite for a niche portion of the market".
LOVE that the thriving niche is the downtown Raleigh, NC condo market!

Walking around downtown Raleigh got a little more interesting this past week, as crews finished installing the banners around the parking deck at 216 W Cabarrus St. As you walk through Cabarrus or McDowell streets, you can now look at the huge banners adorning both sides for the parking deck.
The story of how these got here is interesting, too. Empire Properties was supposed to build an L-shaped building around the parking deck, but the economy put those plans on hold. The banners then became a temporary measure for covering the eye sore that is the parking deck. A design contest held, and three NC State University students designed the 15-banner mural, titled “The Fantastic Sky Race,” which blends in local landmarks into a very pleasant and artistic display.
I’m sure the banners will stir up debate, which is perfect for the city of Raleigh. Most of the reactions I have heard so far are positive, and of course, there are those who completely dislike them. And I think that is perfect. I’m just glad they didn’t go with something bland or completely uninteresting. I myself will continue to enjoy my downtown walks through this area, now with a little bit more art to admire.
